Don't worry, I had to learn the lesson of defending probes the hard way too. But in that game I had crippled myself in prosecuting the failed attack, caused great damage to the Universities rival in doing so and failed to protect my Pact brother from the University. I'd effectively handed Flubber the game and suicided in disgust shortly afterwards.

Actually I learnt another lesson from that game: never play weaker factions like the Spartans just because you think elite impact rovers are cool.

Since the equation takes into account distance from capital why not take the action of rehoming it somewhere closer

Does rehoming it to the captured city make it more expensive?

As for specifics on stuff like rehoming i've no idea how effective it could be or even if it properly works, never tried it in an actual game. Could be something to search the archives for since it was just an idea i had in one of my "hmm where can i get those 12 tech points from and i wonder whats happening between setroc and senethro" moments
