Not necessary if you don't want to. faction profiles are stored in the save file anyway.

I missed the train on custom factions-how do i get them to actually show up on the menu? I just replaced the txt before

You can put them at the end of the list of factions in alphax.txt. I don't know if there is a limit, but you can certainly put 7 more (+ the original 14).

Yeah i just popped up alphax a minute ago to check if their was related entries

Yep just copy the alphax.txt included in the'custom factions' download over the one included in the core SMAniaC download.

Yep, but by clicking on terranx.exe you skip the screen with the choice between SMAC and SMAX. SMAniaC is made for SMAX, so that screen is useless.

As long as the map has a few land tiles and sea tiles I'm all good.
