Gang, In the interest of finishing this game I wondered how you folks would feel about seeking a replacement. I don't raise this lightly since hercules has been a reliable player for many years but in this game the average seems to be that the turn gets through all FOUR other players in 2-3 days and then sits with hercules for two weeks to a month. hercules has provided no explanation for the delays nor any real hope that it gets better. The downsizing of hercules empire is such that his turns cannot take very long either.

There may be no wish to do this but if there is, we could

1. seek a replacement-- may be tough unless someone wants experience fighting an essentially hopeless war

2.Eradicate him-- I don't like thei option since it is unfair that I don't have to spend resources to try to kill him

3. Ask hobbes to play his (herc's) turns-- The way the friendships and alliances have lined up, this can work and I certainly would not object to this-- Hobbes??

I have raised this issue with hercules repeatedly in pms and emails. My general belief is that anything longer than 2-3 days with a turn should be the EXCEPTION.

Sorry to seem like a hard-ass about this . . . but I see that hercules has been on the board joining yet another one of those nuclear war games on the "OTHER games" section of this board

I joined this game because when I reviewed the Gaian position I could see that it was in pretty rough shape, and knew that probably no one would take it, meaning the death of yet another PBEM game. So I took the position, because of the respect and appreciation for the other players in this game, and not wanting them left with yet another game assigned to oblivion.

Anyways, to a certain extent I am still an interloper to this game, and so think that this decision should be left to the two original players in this game.

Thats really too bad. I would've thought a little more courtesy would've been appropriate in this situation....

Hercules is currently holding up 3! of my PBEMs so am not feeling kindly disposed toward him. We have had a good working relationship in this game which I don't like to lose, but the situation is really untenable. I am happy to continue either way--getting a replacement will be difficult yet I could do with another brain on the job! If everyone is happy for me to play both, then I guess that's the simplest.

I am probably the most impacted-- Realistically you can kill GeneralTacticus at your leisure and I don't think the herculean forces are in positioned to attack darsnan much. There maybe some small advantage in your playing both turns but personally I am quite willing to live with that result. I really don't think it changes the diplomacy much since the lines seem to be fairly clear as to who has allied with whom

I think darsnan had it right -- its a continuing discourtesy to the players in this game ( and apparently other games as well) -- I'm a big believer in accomodating other players but when I see hercules continue to JOIN new games in the other games forums even while turns are outstanding here, my belief in accomodation fades.

IF everyone agrees can we get the CMN to send hobbes the password for hercules turn ?? I feel I shoul email hercules as a courtesy-- He probably won't mind too much since he seems to have very little interest in actually finishing this game....

I also wish to thank GT for the game. I was surprised to see how long that final base held on there.
