      Ok I tried coming up with something based on the ideas that an exploiter of Planet might understand Planet. I wanted a much stronger cult with a business mind. I feared making it too strong and hence the growth penalty ( which I always see as the biggest penalty) but I still think it could be a bit strong. What do you folks think??

      The backstory could be that a major oil company sponsored a group to go on unity with many of their best and brightest business folks and geoscientists. They quickly garner a good understanding of PLanet but the lack of other scientists means no increase in research rate.

      ^+2 PLANET: {Studied Planet to know how best to harness its energies-- had great scientists on staff }
      ^-1 GROWTH {Science and business paramount
      +1 ECON {Business Orientated}
      -1 Police { believe in business not societal controls}
      +1 Morale {Profits are up}

      ^{May not use Green in Social Engineering}

      OR as a lawyer I could try the "juridic" at networknode

        Not sure about this one. Functionally, they seem like Morgan but with free units and no support problem. The Growth penalty is less than Morgan's Aversion:Planned and the Police penalty is a drop in the ocean compared to Free Market. Functionally, they're Morgan without vulnerability to Native Life and morale problems. If they ICSed they wouldn't have to build Hab complexes for -3 per base to get specialists.

        With these reasons in mind I'm going to have to disallow them I'm afraid.

        I'm very close on allowing the Juridic. They have robust police. In Free Market will -2.5 police round down to 3 or up to 2?

            Nope I'll play the juridic if they are ok.

            Conversely I can tinker with Big oil. I was originally thinking of them as an Cult with bite but I casn see how I made them Morganites on speed. I did think the -1 growth was a stronger penalty than aversion planned though-- This means the first wave of expansion is a couple of turns slower and the next and the next but perhaps I overestimate growth penalties since I suck at the cyborgs and Pirates.

                Erm, are the AI factions also supposed to be custom made?
                In that case I have another seafaction to propose.

                We can't use custom graphics for our factions? Guess I have to use the pirate graphic set then.

                  We can use custom graphic sets, I was just wanting to make sure there were no accidental matches.

                    No problem there then. I assure you you won't even notice my factions' existence at first.

                    Edit: My factions color is a distinct shade of blue. Lighter then the Hive and darker then the Pirates, so no mixup is possible.

                      Looks like an interesting idea. I'd be willing to CMN it if you haven't already found a willing volunteer. If so, the Ai would be using some custom factions of my own

                          Wow - didn't know you got into this sort of thing, Chaunk! What kind of Factions would they be? I hope their not Morganite knock-offs!

                          I'm happy to allow house rules for you such as only conquest victory available for you and no co-operative victory, but the presence of an Alien faction causes trouble for the other victory conditions. The cost of alien bases are not included in the price of Economic victory for the human factions, for example, yet an economic victory still counts as a win.
                          I can always change them to human if that makes people more, um, "comfortable" with the Kra-Lek. Also, Senethro, feel free to comment on my Factions composition. If you think you can make it more balanced, why feel free - I can live with that. And yes, I do have graphics for my Faction - downloaded from the Network Node. Forget their name currently (starts with a Z IIRC) but their the ones controlled by a parasite.

                            Oh, please, keep them Alien. Way to long ago I've seen the Prog graphics in a game.

                              The Kra-lek are certainly not overpowered and are probably weak. As long as Alien trait is not taken to mean extra CP and free Battleogre I think they would benefit from 25% cheaper probing costs.

                              As for the Judici, perhaps -1 Police would be appropriate. This would ensure that they end up with -3 Police in Free Market rather than -2. Does this seem fair?

                              Thanks for CMNing Chaunk, I hope my map characteristics aren't too demanding

                                I'll start work on a map sometime today. Currently, I see six players:

                                Senethro
                                H. Humpel
                                GeoModder
                                Darsnan
                                Kataphraktoi
                                Flubber

                                I need email adresses from Senethro, H. Humpel and GeoModder.

                                I guess that means one slot left available, being as Senethro wants no AI if I read the first post correctly? Shame really, as I was hoping to use this faction for them:

                                Chaunkites
                                #DATALINKS1
                                ^LEADER: { Ceo Chaunk}
                                ^BACKGROUND: {Munchkinist Cyborgs}
                                ^AGENDA: {Free Market}
                                ^TECH: {Industrial Base, Industrial Economics}

                                #DATALINKS2
                                ^+5 POLICE: {Cyborgs don't riot}
                                ^+4 GROWTH {Ability to mass produce replacements}~
                                ^1 TALENT every 2 citizens {Cyborg "happy" chip}
                                ^Free Bioenhancement Centre at every base. {Cyborg "special" enhancements}
                                ^May not use Police State.

                                If anyone has any password requests, please PM me or email them to me (mj TOD blakemore TA gmail DOT com).

                                Also, if you could all post or email your faction.txt that would be very helpful! Otherwise, you may end up with some "strange" choices of default base names.

                                Finally, I'm assuming that 3 CPs at start translates to 3 CPs and 1 scout (Aquatic versions for aquatic factions natch) and no other units at start?
                                Play hangman.
