Anyways, do we agree on these game settings?
Game: SMAC
Map: Huge
Land/ Sea Mix: 50/50
NL Level: Medium
Erosion: Minimal (i.e. extremely hilly)
Googlie's Probe Cruiser: available upon discovery of Doc: Init
Empath Guild: Disabled
Starting units: to speed up the early game lets start with 3 scouts, 1 regular CP (for founding HQ), and 2 speeder CP's (to expedite next 2 bases).
If so I will let buster know and he can start building the game.
Finally, anyone have a name for the turn tracking thread?

Well ... for a Apolyton PBEM newbie like me ... what exactly is a "Googlie's Probe Cruiser"?
Settings are fine to me. What about blind research and spoils of war though? Both enabled?
And are there any other PBEM codes of conduct besides the obvious (no cheating, save file hacking, turn repitition etc.) that I should be aware of as a beginner?

So this cruiser only affects the AI and not us human players? We are still allowed to build probe foils/cruisers as early as technology allows it?
Blind research: I don't mind some extra randomness in the game, also gives it some tactical touch. After all, we're not playing for some ladder, are we? But being the newbie, I sustain my vote on this
What about Unity pods though? And will the map be revealed?
Thanks for the hint to SMAC Academy. "Being new to PBEM" doesn't imply "being new to SMAC Multiplayer games" though.

Here's the standard set of rules used in PBEMs. Just ignore the whole thing about tournament, victory points, etc.
