  • New PBEM

Hi all, I'm looking to start a new PBEM with some specific rules.

Small world with minimum amount of ocean. Ideally, one of those worlds which is plains with a few lakes, rather than continents.
CMN should be looking to give the players an assisted start (2 colony pods and a free terraformer?) and can choose other settings based on his experience for a fast and bold game.
    Average native life
    No manifold factions.
You win a cookie if you don't pick Yang. Zakharov players should down 3 shots of premium Russian vodka before playing each turn and only members of a trade union can pick Domai. (i.e. Silly factions for preference please)
    Do or Die is off.
Ideally, I would like 6ish people to play so people who can play a turn consistently regularly would be ideal.
No. of CPUs based on number of interested players.
Contact and diplomacy shall be permitted from the start.
Co-operative victory on but limited to 2 people.
The winner shall be the person who wins.

I hope that this will catch your fancy. Anyone interested? Oh, and I would like to take the Angels for a spin on this game.

Um... I didn't understand the silly factions part...

Sounds quick and dirty. I'd fancy taking the Spartans for a spin.

I can usually play and send turns the day I get them, but as you know from our other game I can sometimes sit for a few days when I travel or am working on a show. Just so I'm clear, I can play the day I get the turn only 90% of the time.

Hopefuly emphasis on the dirty, rather than the quick. Spartan would be a popular choice for this kind of game and a Spartan player might be a popular target for several less overtly militaristic factions to destroy, which would be enabled with diplomacy from year 2101.

Second thoughts of mine suggest that perhaps a standard size map might just be more ideal, but that would require some heavy Worldbuilder modding or a lot of CMNing mapwork to get the kind of playing area I was thinking of : /

As for factions, I would just like to see some more variety. If you've never played the Believers or Gaians online before then this would be the game most welcoming of them.

Gotcha. I've always pulled away from military civs, which is why Sparta appeals to me now.

I don't think this is moddable (I haven't found anywhere to change from the default 3 to anything else)

googlie: Well, of course, its not moddable. I would make it a "house rule" however.

As for the last part of your quote, what I meant by that was all routes to victory, however dispicable, are to be encouraged. Within the game rules.

I just thought about a similar PBEM - going back to the basics, play a faction you have rarely played (for me that is every faction except Morgan ) but mainly for a change of pace - guess I need some motivation after one year of Morgan.

I even thought about using SMAC instead of SMAX for "something old and something new" - but if you wanna play the Angels...

Anyway, I would choose... *throw a darts at the manual with the leaders* Lal. (I think I never have pop-boomed without GA before )

I think I could squeeze in a few minutes playtime everyday - I guess for the first years I need less time for this PBEM than to work on the current ACDG3.

PBEM experience: one cancelled with E_N after 30 years, did quite good in the ACDG minigame with Morgan and don't wanna have any special treatment.

                    Hey GUSY

In response to the Lal point, I am currently the PKs for a larf. Winning against senethro

Anyway. I'd be up for this game. Could be fun. I think the standard siz emap would be better since there aren't that many wary factions.

So, we have six people, if I counted correctly. So only one slot to go if anyone wanna join...

(In case you haven't guessed, I'm eager to get this rolling )

So the list is somewhat like:

                        Senethro: Angels
                        Fosse: Spartans
                        useless: ? (please choose!)
                        AndiD: PKs
                        Arcainite: CyCon
                        munchingfoo(?): ?

                        Ehh..
One slot and so many players I haven't played..
But I have 15 PBEMs running..
though going pretty slow at the moment

I would very much like to join your little shootout, but it seems I'd better volunteer as a CMN for this.

I also advise not to take 7th player as each player means less speed.

You've probably already made this game a bit clumsy by having 6 players.
Standard for fast paced, but still not 1on1 games is 4 player (however the setup leaves pretty little choice, but to have 2 teams of 2 players).

                        So..

                        Ahh it's small world?!?

Ok, I take the CMN job!

If you want me of course..

Promise quite a boosted start for you all!

                          And btw -
The winner shall be the person who wins.
                          Quite deterministic!

Yep, its 6 players so its not going to be very fast if people don't play consistantly. Another thing is we could make the game more efficient if we post what time we are going to check email, play and send. This would let our CMN (thanks BinTravkin ) make a better turn order.

I can play most times of the day (because I'm a student :P) but will be fastest at 1800 to 0000 GMT.
