Paradigmâ„¢ OmniNet News
09.02.47 / M.Y. 2105 - (Paradigm Omnimedia Headquarters, Elysium Highlands, Chiron): Work continues at a feverish pace on the primary housing and administrative facilities at Paradigm Headquarters. CEO and Maestro Jason Clor made a public address this morning from his makeshift office in the fledgeling base's logistics center, outlining progress being made in reinforcing the main structure's load-bearing elements, and addressing concerns over water and nutrient shortages as well as problems that have surfaced in the past weeks with the base's atmospheric pressure regulators and waste gas scrubbers.

"The lion's share of our manpower is currently devoted to resolving these technical issues," Clor stated. "Our highest priority is the safety and well-being of our personnel and their families." Clor then went on to describe in broad terms the results of his company's most recent geographic survey expeditions. Thanks to the combined data from scout patrols and Unity rover units, Paradigm civil engineers now have a better picture of the terrain immediately surrounding the Elysium Highlands, where Paradigm descent vehicles made their initial touchdown. According to Clor, survey activities will continue into the forseeable future and provide a broader and clearer picture of the company's planetary holdings as data continues to flow back to Headquarters.

The most significant result of these initial surveys was the selection of a site for a second Paradigm installation, which was announced by the Maestro at the end of his address. This new base will be established in relative proximity to Headquarters in a river-fed valley region of abundant rainfall and nutrient resources. Company planners expect this facility will be able to channel excess food and water to the hungry residents uphill, freeing up vital manpower for work on structural and technical improvements. A contingent of the remaining colonization equipment and personnel, left over from the initial landing, has been dispatched to the site and will begin development immediately following their arrival.

To close his speech, Maestro Clor addressed concerns that no contact has yet been made with other members of the Unity crew. In order to assuage fears that all other passengers of the original colonization vessel had been lost in the reactor mishap and subsequent forced landings, Clor stated that extensive long-range communications sweeps would be made as soon as communications equipment of sufficient power and sensitivity could be erected. Until then, he noted that field survey units had been instructed to be watchful for any signs of wreckage or possible survivors from other Unity factions. "We hope beyond hope," he concluded, "that we are not alone in the world. If our brothers are yet alive, let them thrive as we have. And let us meet again, one day, in peace."
