  • Is this new Faction ok?

    I'm thinking of making a faction.... I've beaten the game with every faction in one way or another, and I'm interesting in making my own faction. If I post the basics of what I want, could y'all lend your expertise on if the faction would be too powerful?

    My faction is a parody of Clan Wolf from the Mechwarrior series of the games. Thats the type of faction I'm trying to make - a (Warden, and therefore manevolent) military Clan.

    Background - Western America, Unity Historian, Weapons Expert
    Agenda - Warden Clan; Caste-oriented system; High regard of "honor"

    Datalinks -

    +1 SUPPORT (Luxuries "dishonor a man")
    +2 MORALE (Military Caste most "featured" in normal life)
    +1 ECONOMY (Caste System keeps members in line and productive)
    -1 PLANET ("Slash and Burn" military stategies)

    IDEAL - Police State (Military Caste larger than all other castes)
    AVERSION - Green ("So what? Its a %&^%ing planet.")

    Things I'm think about/unable to figure out

    1) Possible +2 minerals from fungus? maybe?
    2) I want something about a high regard for honor in the faction. Does the +1 support explanation deal with that sufficely, or what?
    3) Starting tech - Applied Physics - would that make their millitary too powerful early on?)
    4) Starting facility - I dunno. Rec Commons?

    Please, I need your help!

    It sounds too powerful. If the faction went with wealth they'd have normal moral, +2 economy, +1industry, +1 support, and only -1 planet. Maybe if you remove the +1 econ, which is a really big bonus for human players (just look at Morgan). Also, the -1 planet would make the +2 minerals from fungus null and void. The free Rec Commons sounds like a little too much of an advantage as well since they'd get drones quite a bit later than anyone else. Basically as they are now, they have the military might of Santiago and the economic power of Morgan with the only the setback of Marr. So, it sounds like a really powerful faction, but maybe that's what you want.

      I was playing a game with this faction, and my bar is like totally higher than anyone... this is common in all the factions I make for my own fun, and plus I'm playing at citizen,... you get the idea

      Well, I was thinking about how, being a clan, wealth is "dishonorable", and therefore cannot make that choice, as well as Green. Hmmm.

      Well, I'm trying to make this a well-bred and honorable faction, so they wouldn't have many drones.

      I'm guessing Marr is a SmaX faction, since I got no idea 'bout who yer talking about

        The description you gave sounds more like efficiency. Replacing this with +1 or +2 efficiency should help balance it out.

            Thats pretty good, but the -1 economy just doesn't fit. This faction is kinda a paraody of Clan Wolf, and there is a merchant caste. Also, there is a warrior caste, scientist caste, worker caste, and 2 or more, I ain't exactly sure... growth, thats a good idea.

              how about this

              +2 efficency (clan is very efficent at everything they do)
              +1 Support (caste system)
              -1 Economy (they are soldier not merchants)
              -1 Growth (biproduct of the clan system)

              Free Bioenhancement centers (represents calns eugenics program)

              agenda: police state
              aversion: green or wealth or FM or democracy
