Compared to all this Star Wars/SMAC goodness, my SOSUS Device mod seems tamer than a Hatchling Boil... I love the ideas, and I would most defenitely download your mod when its finished. Anyway, about the SOSUS device...

The SOSUS Device was something I came up with after reading The Hunt for Red October for the second time. Basically its an undersea sensor, but the enemy isnt supposed to know where they are (as opposed to land-based sensors, which anyone can see). Cant figure out how to make them invisible yet. One of the ideas I'm messing with is to make them take a really long time to set up and cost money like raising/lowering sea squares. Anyone know how to do that?
This whole message may seem off topic, but it seemed coherent when I decided to write it...

      MOD Update!

*The whole "Ethics" starting tech idea has been added. Each faction starts with their own tech that no other faction can reasearch until Trancend Thought.
*Four techs were deleted to create space for these. They are: Optical Computers, Frictionless Surfaces, Applied Relativity, and Homo Superior.
*All of the starting units work perfectly, except the MTT acts a supply crawler for no apparent reason.
*Tech pictures, quotes, blurbs, and sounds are yet to be created.

      About the SOSUS Devices:

To make them invisible, you would have to make the land ones invisible as well. This could actually be interesting, since you would have to scan each sqaure to find the sensors. (since it would say "Sensor" on the square) At sea, this would be darn near impossible, so they would be safe.

I don't think there is a way to make them cost to build. The best option is to give them a long building time. After all, time is more valuable then money.

Thanks about the SOSUS Device. I still cant remember what the acronym is for. Anyway, if it turns out I can help the mod pack, I will. As I said before, I can't program SMAC/X to save my life, and I'm a horrendous artist. I know a few people who are impressive artists... shall I have them take requests?
If nothing else, I could help you track down those faction logos that were giving you so much trouble about 12 posts ago.

Here's the data on your SOSUS Device:

          SOSUS Device, Foil, Gun, Scout, 3, x, 0, Tech, y, 100000000000000000000011

x= unit cost in tens of minerals (0=autocalculate)
y= number for custom graphic corresponding to units.pcx file
Tech= technology at which unit is enabled

The unit is a Scout Foil with no armor and Slow Unit ability added, reducing its movement. It has Deep Radar, effectively serving as a sensor without the combat bonuses. And it has Cloaking Device, effectively cloaking it from enemy ship in the area until they are directly upon it. The unit has a custom graphic (to be designed), so it can actually look like a mobile sensor device if you want. As discussed in another thread, it is impossible to create stationary units, unless you place them within a scenario. Hope this helps.

I'd just like to say this: The Star Wars MOD pack has NOT been abandoned. As we speak, I'm finishing the very LONG readme that will explain it all. I hope to have a link to download the beta test version here within a few days.

Edit: Easier then I thought. Here is the link
            http://matrix.crosswinds.net/~jay1256/ACPage.htm

Scroll down to the "downloads" section.

Please either email me or respond here if you download it. That way, I can get a good count of who's testing, plus I know who to credit in the next readme.
