What use do, for example PEACEval.tmp or FUNGBOYvals.tmp, have? Since each faction has it perhaps it is a file with build preferences for units and facilities. If that is so is there a guide to modifying it and how (so that Caretakers won`t produce 100+ transports and such stupidities)?

Could be. But Hivevals.tmp has 12 bytes, but Hive.tmp has 48.2 KB. Sizes are same for all factions.SMAC/X FAQ | Chiron Archives

Ah, I've found this thread back
Obstructor, as far as I know they're doing nothing important. I deleted them a lot of times before and after playing, tinkering with factions in the editor function and so on. They only reappeared after running SMAC(X)
