    What use do, for example PEACEval.tmp or FUNGBOYvals.tmp, have? Since each faction has it perhaps it is a file with build preferences for units and facilities. If that is so is there a guide to modifying it and how (so that Caretakers won`t produce 100+ transports and such stupidities)?

          I'm not sure, but I'm theorizing that the game uses them to note the leader traits when randomized.
          No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

            Could be. But Hivevals.tmp has 12 bytes, but Hive.tmp has 48.2 KB. Sizes are same for all factions.

              Ah, I've found this thread back

              Obstructor, as far as I know they're doing nothing important. I deleted them a lot of times before and after playing, tinkering with factions in the editor function and so on. They only reappeared after running SMAC(X)
