  • Too bad about the Ghosts. Looks like the Templar prefer a punishment sphere to subjugation. Ah, well.

    I like to grab all the SPs we can. At this point it is only a matter of logistics.

    Also, I don't think we should sell any tech that other factions don't have. We are now in a position to start taking a tech lead in certain areas, especially with all the energry-rich Ghost sea bases in our stable.

    BTW, great job with the move posts. That is a LOT of work!

    • The Atlanteans had applied quantum mechanics, so selling it to our pact mate Aki Zeta-5 wasn't an issue.

      We have the forces necessary to take out the Templar and the Cult next year (unless they surrender).

      So that only leaves the Atlanteans, the Angels and the Consciousness.

      We have treaties with the Atlanteans and the Angels and a pact with the Consciousness.

      We're solid with the Consciousness because of cybernetic society.

      The Angels have basically gotten a free ride with us. When we first met them, they were weak. We traded and sold them a lot of tech. We also paid them two techs to become planetary governor. My inclination is to give them an ultimatum. Go into a pact or else. We have enough crawlers to build the hunter seeker algorithm in 2 years, although I'd like to wait until just before we issue an ultimatum to the Angels because those crawlers are harvesting resources.

      For the Atlanteans, I'd eventually like to build probability sheathed (D8) carriers and have copters near their bases (outside their territory). Then we have the option to offer them an ultimatum of pact or else.

        • For the Angels, perhaps it is time to go Fed Dem, which is their perferred SE. We can (and should) devote more resources to drone control, and the extra Talent and efficiency should be a big help with our huge empire. Getting rid of the -3 Research with Police State will goose our research, too.

          Although we need to consolidate a bit, our military is more than sufficient to crush any other faction (eliminating the Ghosts in a turn or two says it all). Time for infrastructure and more SPs.

          • If we change to Fed Dem, each copter produces 2 drones no matter where they are. Do you want to scrap all ten copters? I am preparing Pyrimidi to be a specialist only base, but it will take several years to get all the copters there to be re-homed.

            Also the extra talent is not as effective as a garrison (there is a bug). I did a trial switch to Fed Dem. Genesis, which did not have any copters, had to go from one talent, two workers, one drone and two thinkers to one talent, one worker, one drone, two doctors and one thinker.

            We can switch to Fed Police State without problems. It would raise our efficiency by 2, giving us an additional 30 credits/year and increasing our research rate from 8 turns to 7 turns.

            It would reduce our support from +3 to +2, but since no base is supporting more than 4 units, that is inconsequential. It would also reduce our probe rating from +2 to 0, but we can build the hunter seeker algorithm, so that isn't an issue.

            If we want to get all of the secret projects, we need to devote our next few years to crawlers rather than infrastructure, except for recreation commons, recycling tanks and hatcheries for some of the captured bases (we have 4 bases that need hatcheries; for some reason, some of the captured bases did not get our free hatcheries).

            • Tech Choice between MY 2166 and MY 2167, Pt. 1/2

              Between 2166 and 2167, we were asked to choose a tech to research, which we was nanominiaturization. We immediately discovered nanominiaturization and immediately chose nanometallurgy. Are these choices consistent with the tech predictor?

              We started with Biogenetics.

              We will have researched Centauri Ecology, The Exowomb, Polymorphic Software, Renewable Energy Sources, Military Know-how, Gene Splicing, Applied Plasma Physics and Zero Point Energy.

              We received from Delan Centauri Hydrology and Information Networks.

              We received from Aki Zeta-5 Industrial Base, The Fission Reactor, Military Doctrine, Nanotube Mass Production and Super Conductor.

              We received from Elevea Ecological Engineering, Industrial Automation, Xenobiology, Applied Quantum Mechanics and Graviton Theory.

              We received from Roze Environmental Economics.

              We recovered from a data pod Social Psych.

              We stole from Silvera Field Modulation, High Intensity Lasers, Mechanical Resonance and Long Range Missiles.

              We stole from Cha Dawn Centauri Empathy, Fusion Power, Know-how: Sea Power, Know-how: Air Power, Progenitor Psych and Secrets of the Human Brain.

              We received from the nexus translator Optical Computers and Centauri Genetics.

              We recovered from alien artifacts Probability Mechanics, Neural Grafting and Mind/Machine Interface.

              What are our choices for the next tech?

              Which techs do we have the research prerequisites for?

              Tech (Conquer/Discover/Build/Explore) t

              Nanominiaturization (D) 42
              Planetary Economics (B) 61
              Psionics (E) 63
              Retroviral Geneering (B) 76
              N-Space Resonance (C) 85

              Following the procedure:

              n = 38
              s = 1
              b = 1 (the trade with Aki-Zeta 5 hasn't reset the counter)

              Tech (Conquer/Discover/Build/Explore) t, n + t + s - b

              Nanominiaturization (D) 42, 80
              Planetary Economics (B) 61, 99
              Psionics (E) 63, 101
              Retroviral Geneering (B) 76, 114
              N-Space Resonance (C) 85, 123

              The joker tech is the Explore tech nearest the beginning of the list, psionics.

              Since planetary economics, retroviral geneering and n-space resonance have values of t+n+s-b that is divisible by 3, they will not be available.

              So we will be asked to choose from (ordering by ascending explore techs, then ascending discover techs, then ascending build techs and finally ascending conquer techs) psionics and nanominiaturization.

              This is exactly what happened.

                • We investigated 2 Unity pods. One was an hydrology pod and the other was a monolith. We have a potential base site on Mount Planet!

                  Our plan is to build the supercollider at Shadow Run. As a large sea base, it has the potential to produce a lot of labs.

                  We're moving our combat units toward the Angels. We will give them a choice: pact or else!
