Thoughts on AC Enviromental Modelling and Gameplay
Currently, worms take more minerals to make than similar morale level conventional units, which is one reason bred worms are rare.
Especially since a worm is usually dead against a 1-1-1-- Throw in the fact that artillery decimates them and you have a unit that is useful early and then really is a niche unit-- There are some uses for it but in most instances it is not very effective

Although you could use locusts instead of copters to snipe formers and transports, they won't do against a base. Besides, you must do a lot of ecodamage to get them; the only scenario I picture capturing them long before being able to breed them is with either Yang or Domai.

Natives are an ok addition to a mixed force. Locusts are actually a really good way to capture bases when you cannot drop in on them.
But if you opponent has tech superiority .. . a native force alone is dead meat. The two killers are their limited range and poor resistence to artillery. If an enemy has fusion his planes will outrange your locusts and available ships and artillery (SAM of course) just shreds native life.
So yes a worm is just as effective against a 12-8-3*4 as it is against a 1-1-1 BUT the problem is the enemy sees that too and can kill your natives with super cheap units.
If I had a tech lead and saw an enemy preparing for a native only assault, I would start producing cheapy units. Since the units needed to kill those expensive natives are from 1/2 to 1/10th as many minerals, I can use my excess production ( assuming relatively equal industrial capacity) to improve my infrastructure even further
