Hmm, so doesn't give people like yang like a super advantage? They don't have to research the tech and when univeristy researches it for them they use their super industry and minerals and cashes in their billion units to win?

Youll notice i either already have the ascent or have it rushed in that game d=me. in any case there must be 50 chopper supplys available to do the job if need beif you want to stop terrorism; stop participating in it

well if they cant, univ HQ did\had a bunch sitting there to upgrade. i havnt checked the sav, but i think i had enough to make 2 or 3 ascents by that point
and at 2000 mineral cost, i can assure you the AI couldnt create it before you. you could even corner the energy market before they finishedLast edited by Kataphraktoi; January 9, 2006, 16:37.if you want to stop terrorism; stop participating in it

The only major differences with before is that I'm using free market and I chose formers early and the crawlers.
But the problem is still the military part. I have problems managing my units effectively. Always happens the enemy get to attack me instead of me attacking them. Like my units always end up right infront of the enemy rover with 0 move points left somehow. Are there any tutorials on the Kung-Fu as been dubbed by Kataphrakoi?

You probably need more practise is all. Most of us have years of civing vs high level opponents, and are comfortable facing overwhelming odds(and beating them). there are a number of tricks to do. Later game when you have a forest of roads up, you can pretty much gurrantee probing back any city you lose and simply use that as your defence combined with air power. Alternativly-You could just not play with spartans, etc.

There is a distinct lack of articles on my newly-christined Kungfu fighting style Mostly everyone focuses on econ. Many players seem to be tactical masters off the bat without any articles. I presume this is due to the civ experiance i refer to earlier. here is one of the few military articles. perhaps you should try playing one of those factions using military, then when you go back to univ you can handle it easy.
And in any case, i highly advocate a standard sized map with 30-50 land. Fun stuff! Its like eating popcorn when you get those Spartan Elite's out- more more more action
If you ever play MP, theres nothing quite like ripping a player a new one using a weaker faction by far than himLast edited by Kataphraktoi; January 9, 2006, 23:57.if you want to stop terrorism; stop participating in it

You could play my own scenario, that i play when i want a long peaceful game with insanely strong AI's that can actually keep up in tech without massive cheating. Its kindof like a sandbox game with a wrestling match at the end attached is a tamed versian with less Sats for the AI. There is no fungus at the start either,so you can make colony pods like mad it is much more econ based. no spartans here.
Senethro is a huge fan of the map. Here is his very enthusiastic mini-review:
I'm not going to play on that map because firstly the Angels are not an ICSing faction, secondly because it is not an adaquate simulation of a real game and thirdly because given that terrain, I would pop-boom. ICS takes flat arid deserts and turns them into teeming paradises where noone does any work and just sits about all day being Thinkers.Attached Filesif you want to stop terrorism; stop participating in it

I have always transcended in one turn when the project became available. Think about it . . . on the previous turn you could dedicate your empire 100% to cash . . . you can have mag tubes built everywhere so that essentially every one of your crawlers can be moved in to finish things . . . You can disband units from EVERY base as long as the project-building base remains secure PLUS you can sell a facility at EVERY base for additional cash.
If all this is not enough to finish the Ascent SEVERAL times over, your empire is just far far too small .You don't get to 300 losses without being a pretty exceptional goaltender.-- Ben Kenobi speaking of Roberto Luongo

Seriously-- Its actually pretty easy to do it. I have transcended in a PBEM before and in that case I took the precaution in building the Ascent in two bases reasonably far apart "just in case"-- It is actually really easy to instabuild it since on the turn that you finish the voice, you can have EVERY othery connected base build an expensive crawler and every unconnected base stockpile energy while your economy is set at 100% econ. You don't get to 300 losses without being a pretty exceptional goaltender.-- Ben Kenobi speaking of Roberto Luongo

If you loaded that sav i linked too, you would notice on the turn before i had put a bunch of crawlers in the city the turn before then upgraded them to super-mega crawlers. i think choppers are about the best cost effective unit to use. marione has a GREAT post on the subject
Unsure what point this discussion has.(building the ascent)if you want to stop terrorism; stop participating in it
