  • Apolytoner's Hall of Fame: What SMACers shall we vote for?

Last election Googlie was included into the Hall of Fame because a lot of SMAC votes went to him. It proves that if we work together, pool our votes together, the SMAC community can bring people into the Hall of Fame. Therefore I thought we could try to do the same again this time. Instead of spreading all our votes over different people, let's focus on a few, and try to give them an as high result as possible.

Therefore I started this thread. I think there are lots of SMACers worthy of being included in the Hall of Fame. However we only each have three votes. May I therefore suggest that instead of voting immediately, we first nominate some people here, see what others would vote and support, and based on that information perhaps change one or more of our votes to people with a higher chance of getting a high score?

To begin with, some people I have been thinking about are:

Darsnan, Buster, binTravkin (CMNing), Illuminatus (SMAC roleplay & stories) or Kody (Codicil, general strategy).

Who do you have in mind?

Good idea. Just to throw out some other names, what about Ned, Blake and Fitz for their work in figuring out how eco-damage works?

Since votes from prior elections are carried forward, it might be useful to consider how many votes, if any, our candidates already have. I went through Dark Cloud's list and extracted the names and totals for those whom I recognized from the SMAC forums. Hope I didn't leave anyone out, but feel free to add any I missed

      Skanky Burns-76
      Jamski-59
      Alinestra Covelia-56
      Urban Ranger-48
      Ogie Oglethorpe-42
      Darsnan-36
      Snowflake/HongHu-28
      Comrade Tassadar-24
      Dissident-21
      Ned-16
      Buster-13
      Sikander-12
      Hydro-12
      Kody-10
      GeoModder-9
      Blake-8
      Flubber-8
      Kuciwalker-6
      Tau Ceti-3

        Hydro

        Thanky you for your attention.

Hydro's work on fiction is truly magnificient and deserves to get more votes. If you don't know what I am talking about, check the link in my signature to see a list of his work in the fiction forum.

Other than Hydro, I plan to vote for Darsnan, for finding innovative ways to tweak SMAC files.

In all my previous votes I voted for Hydro, Darsnan and Googlie, but seeing that we have managed to get Googlie into Hall of Fame, I'll certainly need to watch this thread to see any ideas for whom to vote.

I would also take an opportunity to note efforts of Chaos Theory, from whom I have learned much about game mechanics, particulary on SE.

          My one would go for:

1.Kody (kodicil, strategy and the possibility to easy detect cheating )
2.Illuminatus (reorganising the Fiction forums )
3.Chaos Theory (Im not sure yet, but it appears he has discovered some miracle in AI balancing - I just tested his last scenario)

          binTravkin (CMNing)
Well, my CMNing practices are being still on an infant stage (but growing up fast), I think I benefit more just by being around and flaming threads..

Anyways, I think Im not yet such an important person here to be voted in.

          maybe next time..

Hmm... you're not on the zeroed list (expired) for this round but maybe your votes expired last round? that's the only explanation I can think.

And catapharact, please remember, when the time comes- you need to place those votes in a voting thread, not here

                  thanks.

Should keep a record of # of nominations? If so, names mentioned:

                    Darsnan - 4 (36)
                    Illuminatus - 2 (0)
                    Kody - 2 (10)
                    Hydro - 2 (16)
                    Buster - 2 (13)
                    Chaos Theory (0)
                    binTravkin (0)
                    Ned (16)
                    Blake
                    Fitz

In parentheses are the votes they already have atm from previous elections (basing myself on Petek's list).

There's some rule about people losing accrued votes if they get zero in an election or something. Did that happen in your case??

                        Oh my choices would be

Buster (best player but probably loses out since he mainly runs his own board)
Darsnan ( anyone on this board knows why)

and I would be happy to consider a community choice

I agree with Darsnan and Hydro - but my third vote goes to Allie Cove, for some of the best SMAC-universe fiction written (plus she plays a mean Yang in PBEMs as well!!)

                              That'd explain it. I don't think I've got a vote since at least 2003.
