I don't think Darsnan goes much of anywhere outside the SMAC forums with all the scenarios he is doing. To get elected he will need the support of the SMAC community

I believe the other 3 are active elsewhere (maybe CIV or OT and would pull more votes from those other communities

Oh and I continue to vote for buster as he is the best player in SMAC I saw . . . But I vote for him with mixed feelings since his other great accomplishments in SMAC are related to creating his own site at CGN and I don't even know that he comes by ehre any more

Ummm Flubber, the two sentences are not related.

Obviously Darsnan is one of the biggest contributors on here and as such needs the SMAC community to support him . The people that get elected more quickly seem to be those that spend some time in OT, probably being controversial, apart from doing something is some other forum

You still don't get it - I was talking about the other three getting support from elsewhere, not Darsnan. I am sorry, it was probably bad phrasing on my part. I'll edit my post to make it more clear.

well i got two of them 'stickied' in that case.

if we all do not want them to be zeroed we should coordinate voting so only one person votes for each smacer on that list, then the rest of the people concentrate votes to get more in,at which point they only get 1 vote\election and we concentrate on another person.i suppose in that manner we could dominate the chart, assuming i understand how this works(prevoiusly have ignored these)

There are probably not enough Smacers active to "dominate the chart" as other larger communities on this board have their favorites as well. AS for getting "zeroed"-- it wouldn't bother me-- I have a few votes but realistically haven't done enough to warrant the HoF (although I do appreciate the 1-3 people that feel otherwise).

I pretty much feel the same way about other folks that face zeroing-- Anyone that could see that happen probably isn't going to make the Hall anytime soon and I don't really see the point of a dedicated campaign to keep people on the list once they happen to get a vote.

                      I might get it.

My point about Darsnan is that since he is so focused on SMAC, he really needs the support of the SMAC community to get ahead.

AS for others that lead Darsnan, I assume that they are viewed as good candidates because they make contributions to other parts of the board as well as Smac. In many ways, I could see why people with a presence across the entirety of Apolyton could be viewed as "more deserving" or whatever but I like to vote for SMACers as a way to give them a small bit of recognition

i realize we do not have numbers but if only 1 vote is needed to sustain a person and every single other vote goes towards electing a single other person in,we could have alot, compared to the adhoc voting of less organised forums.

I agree BUT I just don't see the point of SUSTAINING someone on the list just for the sake of sustaining someone-- If you think they are deserving, sure send them some votes but I would never vote for someone solely so they could avoid being zeroed.

you dont think most of the smacers on that list that are getting 0 are not worthy? tau ceti,kody...they seem like people id expect to see on the hall of fame.

im not advocating sustaining just for the sake of sustaining.just that theres more worthyness then capability. and if we worked together we could boost our capability

isnt that the whole point of this thread as originally posted?

I have voted btw, Darsnan, Jamski and Smiley.

It is also about sustainability and continued contribution to the forums, so that it is always rewarding to visit Apolyton.

In the recent period, Kody, Snowflake/ Honghu (Honghu - don't overlook the fact Honghu could play a mean game of Smac/x) have not posted that frequently of late.

Tau Ceti is/was a master tournament designer but announced his retirement from the forums a couple of years ago.

Minute Mirage (in collaboration with others, JDM, etc acknowledged discovered the workings of the tech tree choice options). Is his contribution not worthy of a HOF recognition.

Does Petek not deserve some acknowledgement for his advice to newbies to the forum and Smacx, when they have difficulties getting the game installed and to work.

He always seems to be there to do this.
