Smac 2 is in the works. But it'll be 2+ years.

But really, it should be in the works. We need it. Can you imagine how great it would be? 3-d graphics, a moddable AI, and custom factions from the get-go. Ah, where is it Brian? Or hire me, then I'll shut up........

No no....I didn't trick you. I was considering leaving my post as it was. There is something to be said for rumor begetting truth, isn't there? If I could start a rumor about SMAC 2, and knew it would lead to the game being made, I think I would do it.

Hey that's not a bad idea. We could rig up a website advertising the release of SMAC 2 in 2 years through a fake dev studio and a fake game publisher.

Once word got out to Firaxis, they'd $h!t a brick thinking someone was pirating their software. That would get their attention! It might kick 'em in the pants and wake them up......I love it!

Agreed...which is why I would like for SMAC 2 to be nothing more than the same game, with updated graphics, some bugs/cheeses ironed out, and an enhanced AI.

What transcendance do actually? Humans are not humans anymore, I know that. But we turn into what.
Some more intelligent advanced species? Is that mean that we are evolving ourself?

What I want to say here is that cant we include the chiron after the transcendance in samcII if there is any(I'm bit daydreaming)? We can not able to play after the transcendace?

I never thought about continuing the story of SMAC in a sequel.

I suppose one new faction could be the Transcendance faction, that has planet bonuses and whose speciality is worms. They could compete with the remaining human factions.

I would rather just drop the whole fungus/worms/planet approach and start afresh. Perhaps the goal could be to terraform the planet like in the Red Mars books. Barbarians/worms could be extremist ecology nuts, like the Giaians, who perform terrorist activities trying to stop the ecological changes.

Perhaps to terraform the planet, you would need terraform plants set up across the planet, and you would need to defend them. The game could be configured so that it was hard to defend terraforming installations and conduct a war of conquest at the same time.

It could be another planet in the Alpha Centauri system too. It would be a bit stale to have it on the same planet.
