I run Winamp with AC all the time

and anti-war songs are great for playing the drones

I listen to a lot of 80's music - I love it when "99 Red Balloons" comes on, while I am in a tense situation and considering nuking my perennial enemies.

(I tend to play as the Morganites, so those enemies are usually the commies and tree-crazies)

Capercaillie works well as a background for playing Deirdre, especially when Claire In Heaven or The Miracle Of Being comes on.

Dunno about that but I cant access winamp at all during the game, I see the program activating in the task bar but the window just doesnt appear....

don't know about that. I always start my music before starting the game. I never even look at my music player once I start.

If you like Capercaillie for a Deirdre soundtrack, then I definitely recommend you try (if you haven't already) Talitha MacKenzie's 'Solas' and Mouth Music. They have a great track called 'Chi Mi Na Morbheanna', or 'I See The Great Mountains' which is superb.

Karen Matheson also released a mighty fine album called 'The Dreaming Sea' which works very well with Deirdre.

Well, I like to listen to some movie and series sountracks like Stargate, Cowboy Bebop...
I also have this really big collection of Video Game Midis (there are several webs about it) and some game's music perfectly fit for SMAX, like "Top Gear 3000", "F-Zero", "Megaman" (well, not all of them, but they mostly fit...
And yes, some classical music is never out of the question (Vivaldi's "Winter" from the four seasons is great)
And to round it all up, I also listen to some heavy metal like Metallica or Japanese Metal (mhh..."Getter Robo"..."X-Japan")
Yes, I am concious of my "varied" likings...

Cowboy Bebop, Ghost In the Shell SAC
                      And even some non-Japanese fare
                      All go well with SMAC

Though so does silence. I often run my games with the silence of space, since that's the POV of the game.

I just like Capercaillie, period Did a twelve-hundred-mile round trip once to see them play one night in Stornoway. Not that I'm obsessive or anything...
Haven't checked out The Dreaming Sea yet, though I keep meaning to...mind you, amazon are plotting against me by having sales on all the stuff I like, so here's hoping they get around to Karen. And many thanks for the rec - always happy to find some good new Gaelic music. I'll dig them up.

                                played another game today.

I played all of my Celtic Frost songs in my musicmatch player.

The thing is I get so into this game, that I don't even realize when all the songs have ended. That's how much I get sucked into this game. But after a few turns, I start to notice the silence.

I can't seem to minimize the screen (although I forgot to try alt-tab, I only tried the windows key). So I have to exit. I just restarted from the beginning. I have several hours of celtic frost tunes (almost every song they made), but my games last longer than that.
