  • Questions on Command Nexus..

I have a couple questions about Secret Projects that give you free facilities, so for this thread, let's use the Command Nexus as an example...

Okay, so I built the Command Nexus, and now I get a free command center in every base. If I look on the base screen it shows that the base has a command center, but the color/shade of the text "Command Center" is slightly darker and has an asterik by it. Is this because I built the Command Nexus?

So anyway, is the maintenance free for all of the command centers? Or does the project simply put one in every base (big economy killer)?

However, let's say that I built a command center in a base BEFORE I built the Command Nexus. If, and I don't know for sure, the maintenance is paid for by the Secret Project, then is the maintenance for that command center paid off as well after I build the Command Nexus? Or because it was built before the Command Nexus do I still have to pay for maintenance?

And, if someone takes over the base with the Command Nexus, do all the Command Centers go away? Let's say that I built a command center in a base before I built the project. Does that base lose the command center too?

Can command centers be destroyed by probe teams if I have the Command Nexus.

And lasly, can you scrap and recycle command centers if they are there because of the Command Nexus?

The * means you have two of that building type in your base. If you feel that you won't be losing your secret project anytime soon, sell that excess building off for some nice energy. Maintenance is free for SP-induced buildings. I think it also causes buildings you build of that type to be free also, so a building with 2 command nexus' will not cost you, although I have yet to verify this.

Due to game-bugs, some new bases may miss out on free buildings.

You can not scrap free buildings, but as I mentioned above you can scrap duplicate buildings and still be able to keep the free version.

Rather then "duplicate" I like to say you have one "real" facility (the one you built per secret project) and a "ghost" facility that is being provided by the Project, the real one can be scraped, destroyed, captured just like normal, the ghoest facility is imunne to all that though unlees you loss the project.

The asterick is also the indicator that their is both a real and ghoest facility in that base, if you see just a dark name with no asterick you have only the ghost facility. As Skanky says sell that redundant factility (use the "scrap all facilites of this type" to get them all), you can partialy or fully pay back the cost of the Project this way.

Thanks guys, I was just wondering because I had some problems with the Planetary Energy Grid.

Can you eliminate a "ghost" facility in an individual base through probe action? I know that you CAN eliminate a faction attribute such as Yang's perimeter defense. I did this regularly in a PBEM . . . but I have never tried to eliminate say a CBA created aerocomplex

            I don't think it's possible, Flubber.

              Its not possible

And if is, consider your SMAC/x quite buggy!

Also with such secret projects your units can use them at freindly bases, such as fast repairs and perimeter defense defending bonus at Pact Brothers bases that don't have the facilities.
