After 3 unsucessful attempts of welding (Damn MIG welder broke
Cheap chinese crap! And the arc welder isn't really made for welding sheet metal under 5mm thickness...) I riveted the motherf-ing plate instead. Next I'll rivet another plate to the outside and make a sheet metal/concrete sandwich... 
For small holes I'll use a chemical metal plaster or fiber glass plaster
