The fact that the url with a trailing slash almost works but not the one without is a bug in my book. Forcing every user to change the bookmark is aksing users for work that takes as long for the webmaster as for the user, except it's not done hundreds of times.
The fact that even with the trailing slash it doesn't send you to the forum but the spotlight is very annoying too.Clash of Civilization team member

Wow. Quite a change, and improvement in my opinion. The Spotlight is almost infinitely better than the old start page! I like the background image - the style in general seems more modern and smooth. I agree with the decision to go ahead and roll it out with a few rough edges left - much better that than missing Civ5's release, and for awhile it did seem doubtful whether a thorough revision would come out, which another year certainly wouldn't have helped with.
The only thing that concerned me was the favicon - as it loaded first, and looked like an orange barrel or caution sign, I thought perhaps the site maintenance had continued considerably longer than expected, and the favicon had changed to reflect that!
