I do. Problems with access was one of the main things that kept me coming back to Poly.

You mean "environment" not "server" right? There's no reason a test environment can't be hosted on the same equipment. All it takes is a virtual domain to create a new root.

Yes, in a normal situation that would do.
But we have a lot of legacy to figure out, and since the current server already has to deal with a lot of legacy and different systems we prefered to setup a new server (just a 'home' server which we can tweak all the way we want) which we can use to try and setup the future of apolyon without harming the current environment.

We made this decision when Apolyton was down a lot, right now that has been fixed by Gramphos, but we still support our decision.
I can understand that others might have made different decisions, but for us the quiet period between civ releases is an excellent time to take the extensive approach instead of the piece by piece approach.

Well, try to login to poly without the www, and see if it then still happens.

Come to think of it, my other computer logs into Poly without the www and uses the Ozzy-skin. This computer uses the default skin for sceen brightness reasons. Thus I will continue to use the different domains. Different domains = different skins = nice feature
