Realistically I don't think an Apolycon 08 is feasible at this point, it's too close ... by this point we'd already had our first registration deadline in 06, after all.

It's certainly possible for 09, and a good time to talk about it... if there are others interested, i'd be willing to help organize it, and have some ideas of my own as to how to make it rather more successful than the 06 one, which was interesting and successful in its own right but I don't think nearly as much so as we'd hoped it would be.

Agreed, a Con for 2008 wouldn't be a good idea. With events of this scope, you want organization to be already under way 6 months before it happens.

The key with a future Apolycon isn't (just) having an organizing committee - it's also community interest. Such an event would clearly not be worth it if no one except the organizers were interested. So certainly, anyone who's interested in a possible future conference should say it so that at least overall interest can be approximately gauged.

A convention this year is possible but certainly not practical... my "in earnest" comment was perhaps an understatement . to Joe and Methos for volunteering to serve on a Committee for '09. Joe, if you're willing to lead the effort to try and get a Committee for '09 organized it's yours.

Certainly, though there was a notable level of community interest expressed for '06 that didn't pan out into registrations.

In terms of my participation -- beyond willing and wanting to attend again -- I can serve in the capacity that I started out for the '06 event which was Administrative Liaison to the Committee (as opposed to being on it which I eventually felt the need to do). Two requests I have at the outset is that any '09 Convention be held somewhere in North America (and I have an idea or two on specifics ) and during the summer months of July or August.

What's being talked about here is another convention, not a reunion. That said, we would welcome JohnT to return to the Apolyton community and in turn participate in the organization for another convention in some capacity if he is willing and able to do so.
