  • Asher is banned

Asher has been banned for breaking the rules repeatedly. He will be released when he convinces us that he will play by the rules... He made that promise that he would as he was posting PM's at another site, which is also against the rules. He has proven repeatedly that he has no interest in following the rules.

I've deleted all the wonderful threads in the OTF on the subject. It's so nice to see how loved he is

Feel free to comment in this thread... However, anybody that posts PM's will be restricted... just like Drake Tungsten was for doing so.
    Keep on Civin'
RIP rah, Tony Bogey & Baron O

You guys just don't get it, do you? No one loves Asher. Everything thinks he's an *******. What we do love, however, is Apolyton, and the current administration is ****ing that up. Maybe I'll move to Cuba or something.

Go ahead. Hopefully you don't crash head on into the wave of Cubans on their way here.

Yep... we are screwing it up by not allowing Asher to continue to insult people

No, you're screwing it up by destabilizing a community that has grown beyond this forum. You can keep Asher banned for all I care; it solves your problems. But it will have an impact on the community, as we have already seen.

Methinks people are worshipping Asher's bottom a bit too much. He could be both fun and annoying, but all this is doing is stroking his already inflated ego.

Yep... it will send a message that people who only post to stir things up and insult people aren't really members of the community and won't be allowed to post unless they agree to follow the rules that everybody else has to

That is the game he is playing... and if some people are silly enough to play along with him, that's their problem.
I'm sure some just see it as a fun way to disrupt things... not really caring about the site at all. Fine, it's their opinion and they are welcome to it... but we will not give in to people who constantly break the rules and insult members of this site.

It's not about Asher. It never was. If the staff stopped fixating on who they were "punishing" and started looking at what they were doing, there wouldn't be this problem in the first place. How many long-standing, well-liked and well-respected posters have to be banned along with Asher before you get that point?

Precisely! I'm glad you finally get it. See. That's why I wanted him banned in the first place. Making an example of him sets precedent. You set the tone for this community. And when you do that, when you change the nature and culture of this community, there will be consequences.

The administration on this board has to start understanding that its actions have consequences. We can't punish you or anything; you're in charge. But when you do things that change the nature of the community, other things will change as well. The membership will change. People will leave.

Of course, people have been leaving for awhile. *shrug*

I don't really care if Asher's ego gets stroked; that's not the issue. There are other agendas here.

That's it! There are other agendas. See, Ming seems to think as if this is Apolyton vs. Asher or something. As if it's a fight that one side is going to win. That's why he thinks we're all on Asher's side, making him stronger by doing this.

But that's ****ing silly. This isn't some war. This is our community. We're on the side of our community. Man, I feel patriotic. Is there some Apolyton-flag-waving smiley I can insert here?

Gee, we are looking at what he was doing... Asher continued to break the rules and insult people repeatedly after multiple warnings... I guess we should continue to allow him to break the rules?

And if the "well-liked and well-respected" posters break the rules, yeah, they will get restricted as well... So far, only one other person has been, and that's for posting PM's... a rules violation.

When will people understand that Asher is being banned for his actions... But I guess it's more fun to just try to cause trouble instead of seeing reality

You're speaking as if people leave because Asher is banned, but no one leaves because of getting trolled and insulted (I'm not just talking by Asher here, I'm talking by anybody).
