    Yes.

Again, I am not experiencing any problems accessing any forum(s). It just adding subscriptions to private forums and the fact that I'm not getting any email notifications when there's new activity in a forum/thread that I am already subscribed to.

I checked to make sure that my ISP's spam blocker is not blocking Apolyton; in fact, I turned of the spam blocker completely.

    I hope that is clear.

I already thought it was something like that, but then why must it be a clickable link? You can disable the option "Automatically parse URLs" on the "Post Reply" page.

So for demonstartion you are allowed to click on http://apolyton.net but http://www.apolyton.net is a no-go.

One thing I can come up with is that browsing without cookies does not work as supposed. Actually I complained nummerous times that it does not work, but Markos always rejected to fix it. To use cookies your bowser must be set to use cookies, of course. And you have to enable the option "Browse board with cookies" in your Control Panel -> Edit Options.

Once you are at your Control Panel -> Edit Options you should also check whether "Use 'Email Notification' by default" is enabled. It could be just that simple and stupid. If this isn't the problem you can also check whether in your Control Panel -> Profile Options the right email address is entered.

          Martin,
Thanks for the input. Cookies are enabled by both my browser (specifically for this site) and by the board itself. Email notification is also on.

I think the next thing I will try is to set up a new email address and see if any notifications get sent there. maybe apolyton.net does not like comcast.net for some odd reason.

That's pretty tempting Solver, but since we are all humanist: No thanks.

But anyway, the one thing I still don't understand is why the link was supposed to be invalid.

            So, that wasn't the problem.

Well, before I would try this, I would first use the Apolyton email form to send an email to myself. This way I could exclude that something is wrong with my email address and apolyton. But even if you don't receive the email there could be still something wrong with your email address itsself, in such a way that you don't get emails at all.

Anyway there may be another source of the problem:

I don't know whether "subscribe" means for threads and forums the same, I can only remember that I receive email notifications only for threads in which I have posted, but not for subcribed forums. I can only view them in my Control Panel.

But even in that case you should get email notifications about new posts in this thread for instance.

I've sent an email to myself, using the forum. Perhaps another person could try the same, for testing purposes.

BTW, I can subscribe to non-private forums. It's on the private ones, in which I am a member, that I get the error with.

So did you get the email? If Yes, I don't think that there is a problem with your email address.

Maybe that is a problem with private forums, so is there anyone out there who can subscibe to private forums.

I've talked to comcast about this and they said:

Danny > It sounds like it may of been put on the Comcast Blacklist. THis occurs when the server notices a large amount of outgoing messages and tags it as spam. The sending domain would need to submit a block provider request from.

Kenneth > So, I need to ask the site operators to contact Comcast about this?

Danny > the mail administrator for the sending domain will need to visit the following address and submit a "Blocked Provider Request Form":

So, could anyone from Apolyton fill this form out for me and submit it?

That's useful - I hope one of the admins will fill that form.

For the record, I can subscribe to private forums (am subscribed to 3), but this doesn't really mean anything, as my mod status allows me to do things which would normally be greeted by that permission denied page you're getting.

Now that I'm recieving email notifications (Apolyton's off of the blacklist), can we get the forum subscriptions thing taken care of?

I still can't subscribe to a whole forum that is private. And, yes, I am a memebr of the private forums I'm trying to subscribe to.
