As of November 1st, 2006, Apolyton Civilization Site (ACS) ceased being a venture jointly owned and administered by two individuals as it had been since its founding on July 26th, 1998. It is now a majority owned and chiefly administered venture by one individual with partial ownership and departmental administration shared equally among three others who have each been with ACS as staff for a number of years.
ACS co-founder Daniel "DanQ" Quick is now controlling owner and administrator with existing staff members Wouter "Locutus" Snijders, Ming and rah as part-owners and administrators. Markos Giannopoulos, who founded and for more than eight years co-owned and administered ACS along with Quick, is remaining on staff as Technical Director.
"The reasons for this transition are two-fold", Quick explains. "Significant changes in individual availabilities that have been building for some time and, in turn, to put Apolyton in the best position possible to continue and grow effectively. While it may sound simple enough, emotions cannot help but to run high amongst all on staff here and at times those emotions cannot help but conflict with one another. I have been a webmaster in the Civilization community for more than a decade, an owner for more than nine of those years and an equal partner in ownership and administration for over eight. It will take some getting familiar with".
"I look forward to doing what ever I can to make Apolyton an even better and stronger community", says Ming.
ACS is an independently owned and operated fansite in an effort to serve the Civilization genre of computer gaming community. This transition has been ongoing in stages out of public view since mid-September.
