Does this mean that the babe thread rules will change?

MarkG - you have played a key role in building and maintaining our strong community, one that I have made the odd post or two in over the years. I sincerely wish you well in whatever comes next for you.
Simply put: thanks! Make sure you still pop in to post.
All hail the new DanQian (ooh I like that, an East meets West dynasty) empire.

What can we conclude from this announcement?
1. Markos was not pulling his weight. (references to "significant changes in individual availabilities")
2. It was not entirely amicable. (the references to "emotions" and "conflict")
3. Dan bought out Markos. (they will never say for how much)
4. Locutus, Ming and Rah got a cut of the ownership, likely in lieu of salary, in an attempt to cut costs. (a supposition)
5. Is the viability of Apolyton affected? (Perhaps, but we will be the last to know)
It is hard not to speculate.
1) Markos hasn't been around that much lately - I guess he has other fish to fry. We all have to remember Mark and Dan had way more free time when they started this site. Either way you present though, it looks like a key driver.
2) I infer this too - hopefully it is past now.
3&4) The latter is likely wrong, it doesn't lower costs as the individuals were giving their time (afaik) on a voluntary basis. 3 probably isn't entirely true - my guess is the new admins have thrown a little into the pot, and to them.
5) Perhaps. However, my guess would be no. It is no secret that it has been hard to get people to do things around 'Poly, and whilst we joke (the birthday contest thread for instance was hilarious) it is sometimes frustrating. I'd say DanQ has done exactly the right thing in giving a stake to those who have already voluntarily contributed a lot to the site.
Dam, I guess that means no getting rid of Ming now
Seriously, Congrats to the new owners/business partners.
And thanks for all the good years Markos, you had always been helpful when I asked you to open forums for Demogames and such. I appreciate your efforts over the years and good luck to you in your future endevors....

As we all well know, it was a very evil rule set forth by Markos. Ming, repeal it now !
You never know what will happen in the future.
This change will give us a chance to take a look at the current rules and see if anything really needs to be changed. DanQ will be making all final decisions in regards to the site... but the three of us will be providing much input.
