The Apolyton front page and the Civ4 section didn't work either, though. Not that I actually visit either (don't have Civ4), but I was just checking. I don't think it can be a good thing that a forum problem (as you say) takes down probably the most important/visited parts of the site (outside the forums) along with it.
I couldn't access anything for a whole day, and it took several hours before the joke message came, before that I just got a standard Opera error message. What services weren't affected Dan?

I'm not going to enumerate all services that were not affected but, suffice to say, the forums -- the most heavily trafficked section of Apolyton -- were inaccessible as is well known. There were also some services that were only partially affected.
