my first login joined April of 1999. Iirc it didn't have a 1970. Though that may have been with the old forum version. I haven't used that one since around the year 2000 when I admitted to all my DL's.

And iirc, it's only the 1998's. 1999's are okay.

I'm trying to puzzle it out but It seems to me that it was probably 1995 or 1996 when I started posting on apolyton judging by the dates of some of my save games that date from that time. When did poly forums get started?

Feb 15 1999 If I remember correctly was the original start. I think that onepaul had a registration date of Feb 28 1999 and that would seem to assert that any time after that has the correct date.

Some posters have had their dates manually changed by Markos and Dan since then, however. That's why you see some people with earlier than 2-15-99 registration dates.

When the site upgraded from UBBoard to VBBoard, all the 2-15s were replaced with unix time of Jan 1970 or Dec 1969 (depending on your timezone)

As for the poly forums start- Markos and Dan didn't even merge the sites until 1998. DanQ wrote a bit about it in his history of the site that was published in the Interview Section. If I had to guess, I'd say July 1998 was when the forums started since that's when the sites were merged.

You may be confusing Poly with the Civ II Universe- techumseh and a few others made lots of posts back then to the 'treed-style' Bulletin Board used by it.

I would like to say in my 5 years of posting (and 1 year of lurking in the CTP area) my expierence has also been enjoyable.

I despise the majority of the mods except Solver.

I guess they think they are all high and mighty cause they devote 6 hours a day to sit around in there hot sweaty underpants surfing the forum for people to ban for stupid ****.
