right
Why can't you read?
My quote is this:
I think I speak behalf on most people here who aren't buying his excuse that this has nothing to do with UR being a terrible mod, and his tyranical actions against me are the principle causes of this. It happened just days after the latest fiasco.
You can't copy and paste segments of people's posts from DIFFERENT posts and put them together. Christ, Mark...

Like I said from the outset, I really don't see the need for an additional moderator outside the U.S. time zones. There is a very low level of posting activity during the times when the two current mods are offline.
But if it is determined by the owners and/or Ming and rah that there is indeed such a need, I think there are plenty of candidates who would be able to fill the position and do a good job.
From Europe, people like Dauphin, Gangerolf, Saras, Colon would be fine choices. alva also.
From Asia, a guy like Drake Tungsten would be an excellent pick for a level-headed and fair moderator.
But whomever is chosen, I think it would be a good idea to have some sort of evaluation of the moderatorship by other posters after, say, 2 months have passed. Not to be the sole source of deciding whether to keep the person on the moderator team, of course, but a chance for posters to weigh in on whether the new mod is doing well or maybe not so well. Wishful thinking maybe, but please take this suggestion into consideration, it will serve as a possible concensus-builder if people are allowed to speak their minds - and feel they're being listened to. It can and should be conducted in a civil manner, and will only improve "costumer satisfaction".
The position of OT moderator is a potentially highly sensitive matter to a good deal of the people who post here the most. As you will have noticed, it's not just Asher who's had to wipe his screen every 5 minutes on occasion during the past 2½ years.
But whomever is chosen, I think it would be a good idea to have some sort of evaluation of the moderatorship by other posters after, say, 2 months have passed.
The problem with this is that, with rare exception, nobody ever seems to think that action taken against them by a mod is ever justified. I've had a person threaten my family after I banned them for posting a hard core porn picture... Nobody is ever wrong, and any action taken is considered unfair...
I would not want a mod to be judged based on whether people like him or not... because it would turn into a popularity contest... A mod shouldn't be worried about such things, because they have a job to do, and most people don't like that job.
Also, based on past experience, any new mod will have some enemy out there who will start the BS the minute they are named mod. In addition, "some" people here feel it's their duty to bait mods... and try to incite them so that later they can claim "I told you so"...
As it is now, all mods are constantly being reviewed by the owners. When I step over the line, I get told that I did... and believe me when I say I've sent some "interesting" PM's to other mods in regards to how they have handled things. However, most people usually aren't aware of actions taken against mods because it is not a public matter.
if people are allowed to speak their minds
They already do... and in most cases, they aren't very civil about it.
- and feel they're being listened to.
If people send civil PM's, they are listened to... and what they say matters. These are matters best handled in private and NOT publicly. How many people here would like their performance reviews at work be done in front of the whole company instead of just their boss...
This is a privately owned site. The owners have the right to handle manners in whatever fashion they want to. That's why we dont' have popularitiy contests to see who the next mod will be... Their site.. Their choice...
If you don't like something about the site/mods... feel free to PM the owners. If you don't like the answer, feel free to find somewhere else to post.
If people send civil PM's, they are listened to...
Reminds me of the time a couple months ago you banned me, when you said "Take it to PM", and then I quoted your PM reply word for word which was "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA"
And I'm not even going to go into how childish and devoid of meaning MarkG's PMs are...

You usually reap what you sow... If you act like an ass, you will get treated as such.
If UR was the only choice for an "Asian" mod, then best not to have one at all, IMO.
