  • What's with all these screen names with 0 posts?

    shouldn't they be deleted?

They are either DL's, or off topic posters who have never posted on topic- also a DL.

yeah I was curious, because I wanted to see who had the same flag as me. And most of the people who use the same flag, have 0 posts. Who are these people?

Lurkers maybe, perhaps people who register to download a mod or a patch.

    Who knows!!!??

    Who cares!!!??
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?

Is it really necessary to register just to download something from the site?

Registration is tiring enough without making these poor people have to go out and post too.

if they don't know how to spam, they should not be posting.

Mark wont delete them as it would remove too many accounts.

It has also been established in the past that there aren't really any benefits of cleaning up.

Now you've gone and spoilt the plot for this thread.

Besides, what advertizer is going to want to advertize on a site that goes from having 60,000 members to 2000 members in one night?

The benefit is that you make more nicks avaliable for new posters. I hate when I try to register at some forum, but they tell me my nick is already in use. And when I look up who registered I notice that it's some poster who posted one single post 20 years ago

I presume Adagio is not referring to himself, or other posters of standing, but rather new people who register at a site only to find out their nick is in use, and then end up being discouraged from posting there ... they likely won't take the time, effort, or know-how to PM the admins to fix it

                              Exactly

And even if they manage to register with the name saddam156498 they might not want to stay here because of their name (not knowing it can be changed)
