  • Would ancient Civ II strategy threads interest you (II)?

Some time ago I posted this thread (it's in the archive now):

Seems I didn't throw away all of my printed archive after all... I've found some printed threads dating from as early as August 1998, discussing Civ 2 strategy...

I want to know if there's interest in me resurrecting them (as many as I have time to and as long as there's interest) by rewriting them in this thread?

I also need to know if this is ok with i) moderators and ii) the people involved in the threads. Remember that this is before OCC, MP, early landings (well, the concept "early" had a different meaning ), Oedo years etc so a lot of the strategy advice is antique and might even seem ridiculous compared to today's knowledge...

I'll write down everything in the posts, including posting dates and times... I'll keep spelling erros and everything else just as it once was posted...

To wet your appetite here are some of the threads' names (thread starter and date (day-month-year) in parenthesis):

    - Baby technologies (tomahawk; 15-11-98)

    - ARMY, NAVY OR AIRFORCE II (Ming; 06-11-98)

    - Are you defending your cities well enough? (tomahawk; 04-11-98)

    - Demanding tribute--a symposium (Flavor Dave; 12-11-98)

    - What is your favourite strategy? (Dominikos; 22-09-98)

    - We love the _ day (Eros; 18-08-98)

    - Civ Building in Rough Terrain (Sergeant Sheets; 18-08-98)

    What say you?

Hey, you can place a city right in the middle of those special squares and have four of them for one city!

I'd say it can't hurt, unless members who posted might feel embarassed by what they said.

could be good for nostalgia reasons, but I'm sure many of those strategies have been abandoned for better ones. Since we've had years to pick the game apart.

Not that they are entirely obsolete, I'm sure one can do well with them, but perhaps not as well as later strategies.

You can find many of the old threads in the archives. Every once in a while I'll go back and read the silliness I posted back then, and laugh my brains out
        Keep on Civin'

The archives don't go back that far though... I'd love to see them.
