You make it sound so simple, but last time the clocks changed, Mark or Dan said something about Apolyton being relative to Greenwich Daylight Time...

        You're upgrading from a dual 2.0 to a dual 2.4?

Why bother? Just switch to SCSI on Settler 2 and save for a real upgrade.

Or if you were really cool, split the load.

If all go well we should be done in the afternoon
It's 00:26 on April 29th, Apolyton time. Why are we still up?

          ACK!

it's not like i've got phsyical access to the server and can upgrade just the drives....

They do have hardware upgrades available. It's just that you need to pay for it. I have to partially agree with Asher. Waiting to get a real upgrade would have been a good choice. With the size of Apolyton, saving towards splitting up to two servers (one content, one database) would be more sustainable and keep us ready for better longitivity.

cPanel? Sunday sysadmin. Good move however. Except that something like FreeBSD would have been better. EV1Servers ship servers with FreeBSD without any messy control panels.

                Great stuff

I reckon using dual Opterons would be a better choice, though.
