  • Settler 3 Is Born - Forum Downtime April 29th

On April 29th (that's tomorrow), we will be upgrading to a new server.

The process will start aproximately at midnight Apolyton Time. The forums will be closed and will open again on the new server, Settler 3

If all go well we should be done in the afternoon

So I was right about my speculation about the PLUS money going towards a new server.

Yes, specs? Dual Intel Xeon? Maybe 2,8 or 3 GHz? A few RAID SATA or SCSI hard drives? 2 or 4 gigs of RAM? Or... even a dual Opteron? Wait, that would mean moving to different datacenter. Still going to be with EV1Servers?

Markos beat it to me. But my guess was quite right.

Well, I'm sure few people would guessed it to be the following:

              Celeron 1400, 128MB Ram and two USB2!! 512MB keys.

partially true, i think it would be more accurate to say that plus money have went to reducing the overall amount of served ads

still on ev1, different datacenter. unfortunately for the Earthquake Disaster Plan this will mean that settler 3 will be on the same datacenter as our backup servers(from top40 and apogee). at least we have dsl lines.....

None the less, great to see at least some of the cash going towards a good cause, ie. Settler III.

less ads is not a good cause?

Yes, but I don't mind a few ads versus having something like Settler III to improve performance. Never said removing ads isn't a good cause, if we get nitpicky.

I like new server and no ads.
Hooray for the best of both worlds.

Settler, engineer... we might need a new favicon?

                              , or perhaps ?
