  • Mass PM-ing

I wished to send a private message to each contributer of the Civ4 list to ask if they permit the inclusion of what they wrote in the wiki-list. I have the list of nicknames, but it'd be veeery long to send each one, one by one. Is it possible, in some way, to send all of them a pm (or email or whattever) all at once?? I don't know... puting each name separated by ";" or something??

Ming said there is something about buddy list permitting to help but it might not be the best, I don't know how efficiently it would work and... *cries* I have no buddies anyway.

Solutions anyone? Anything to help? It's 183 persons, so...

If you add all the users you want to PM to your buddy list you can PM them all at once. But you have to add them manually so... The easiest thing would be to start a thread about it in the Civ 4 forum and hope that people will read it and respond.

The buddy list is useable but arduous (though less so than PMing them all, especially if you have the flood control.

A group PM feature would be a nice addition Mark.

Only for Subscribers or Custom-avatar users though. The last thing we want is mass PM-spam by pornbot. :shudder:

PMing buddies allows you to PM up to 5 people at once. You will of course have to make every single contributor your buddy too, all 183 people.

Subscribing to PLUS allows you to send PMs without waiting 90 seconds per PM. You can send them as fast as you can make them (abuse of which isn't recommended).

These are the only things that can help you under the current system.
I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

Ok, so if I understand you well, the best solution is a revolution by mass-Pm-ing Mark? Great, I'll get PLUS!

Only 5 at a time? Damn, that´s few. But it´s with good intentions I guess...

With good intentions indeed. The forums are already being harassed by spambots. It's only a matter of time before they discover PM...

If you want to send out a message to a large number of people, email is the best way to go.

Well, I have no friends here, so I´m not PM-ing much. I´m just trying to act like a know stuff

Why don't you just set up a mailing list?

And it includes collecting all 183 e-mail adresses and manually registering them on the mailing list. It´s a ***** whichever way you go

You don't need to do that. Set up a lista nd get those who want tor eceive the mail to subscribe themselves. When they ***** about not knowing somthing point them in the direction of subscribing to the list.

But AFAIK this is a one-time event. Not an ongoing one. He needs to contact each and every one and get their approval. He could do this by posting a thread in the Civ 4 forum, but why go the detour of mail or PM if they can leave their approval right there, in the thread?

The problem is still that each and everyone needs to be contacted...

Even better assume they give their approval unless they post that they don't in your thread.
