Hmm what difficulty level are we at? Should we raise the luxury rate, make 1/3 of the members into entertainers, or build a temple?

No need - Ming is the equivalent of 4 or 5 military police units.

Why can't you be a non-conformist just like everybody else?

          Hmmmm...statistics...nicely done Locutus!

I have a couple of ideas for further statistics. If you have some time left to burn, of course...

Is it possible to get pagecounts for "lurkers"? (e.a people who read threads but don't post often) and compare lurker vs poster activity?

Can you do an S-curve and normal distribution of the post activity? (No. of total posts and yearly/monthly/daily average) with a cutoff point of actual activity let's say... 1 year?

Is there a way to make subcategories for the forum? (Civ2, Civ3, CtP, other etc..). I would like to know the size of the active communities (people who post weekly/monthly in a specific forum category)
Skeptics should forego any thought of convincing the unconvinced that we hold the torch of truth illuminating the darkness. A more modest, realistic, and achievable goal is to encourage the idea that one may be mistaken. Doubt is humbling and constructive; it leads to rational thought in weighing alternatives and fully reexamining options, and it opens unlimited vistas.

I thought so, but I'm not native Enligh speaker. It's probably just my Norwegian coming into play, it's much like a Norwegian expresion. I meant that some people is more visible than others, understand?

                      Cap,

To keep it very short, the answer to all your questions is: No

No, I don't have time to burn and no, all the extra stats you suggest require access to SQL to gather the data, which I don't have. I just use the memberlist that's available to everyone, which gives only very general info on the posting activities over the entire site. Only Markos or Gramphos could gather the data you would like, but I'm sure they have better things to do.

At the very most I could keep track of the total number of posts made in every section/forum in a certain timeframe, but with over 80 forums that would take a lot of time (especially since posts are periodically archived), more than I'm able to commit.

Thanks for your suggestions, they are always welcome, but in this case I can't really use them...

                        Locutus,

Hey, it never hurts to ask doesn't it?

I already feared these sort of detailed statistics might require direct access to the DB. With a good selection of records and a good statistical program there's all sorts of things you could analyze.

And, as anyone who works with statistics will warn you, the devil is in the details...
