Whew. I just saw this- [I was too busy first with GMing the Society game, and compiling the list and Hall of Fame to see this... and then with life for a while...]

(I'll come up with a detailed post later) But as for a permanent location on the site- and announcements every time the election is actually held- those would be great ideas both for
            1: Publicity
            2: Faster Vote-Processing

1A- With more visible locatinos for the Hall's election posted as announcements, more people will see and participate.
1B- With more visible locations for the list of Hall members, the hall becomes a bit more meaningful

2A- With people only posting in 2 or three different threads, it's a little easier to navigate the posts- and compile... though Settler II's server is much faster at loading posts than Settler I's and the dark ages of server hosting so it is much easier for me to currently post the data in more threads whereas in the dark ages it would have been near impossibly annoying due to thread load times!

However, this means that I'm going to have to clean up the writeups for a few posters and do some research so that the hall looks more professional and thorough [Then again, research is what I'm good at- it's the time that I lack ]

(Note: will write more later... am expecting an important call now so I must log off my dialup.)

I think Mark is just trying to increase his post count by being ambiguous and having to come back later to explain.

              Maybe someone should PCR him.

First off, I would like to thank Ming for bringing this up.

And second- for the overwhelming support that such a proposal has garnered

And third- I would like to thank Markos for responding to something dealing with the hall. (even if his response is only in part complete)

                ----
                Next:

I suppose that the list of ideas goes like such:

                1. Site Announcement when the Hall of Fame occurs
                2. Permanent Section of the Site where members are identified and data is provided
                3. CivGroup for Members (and yes, I would be willing to add members and approve them- I already do something much like that for the Civ III Stories section of the Apolyton Directory- not that many people submit completed tales to it... but eh... However, I understand if Markos, continuing his policy of "no exclusive clubs" would not want to initiate such a thing.)
                4. Addition to posters' titles: "Prince___of the Hall of Fame"
or "Hall of Famer" added to title (where 'supporter' was tested in the days before it got converted into the nifty .gif file

                ---
                Shogun Gunner
"Official" is matter of terminology and perspective. This has been conducted long enough that it has become part of the texture of the site. I didn't even realize this was not "offical".

Although DC's been doing a great job bringing it to the other forums, the on topic posters still may be less aware of its existence. For this sole reason I would support Ming's suggestion of giving it a permanant place where it resides and other people have an equal chance to view it.
That is very true. In some sections of the site- namely the Civ IV the list section, and RoN, MoO sections, it is very hard to attract any votes. The people there don't seem to understand what the hall is, exactly. More publicity would help.

It is an excellent idea. The little things REALLY extend the life of a forum. And bring in new people. And keep the old ones around. etc...
That's a good way to look at it!

Markos, with Darkcloud on the job, how can you go wrong?

Put in in Community with a topped thread.

Having custom titles is a good idea as well but what would a CIV Group do?

Thats why I think we need a permanent topped thread or a devoted page.

Dark Cloud could then just do a bunch of posts around the site directed folks to the permanent thread every time we had a vote.

                    Everyone votes there.

It would make it a lot easier for DC.

What about an under forum in Community, with all threads going there?

Well when I think of Hall of Fame, I think of the community forum.

Because thats the forum that we all theoretically belong to no matter whats our interests are at this site.

Thats why I think it being in the OT forums is not the correct place. I for one and a lot of other never go there, it just doesn't seem "right".

I could go for a subforum here or even just a topped thread with links to all the other threads.

yes it would be good for it to have a ho,e outside of the OT

It definitly is more than just an OT issue

And a good home would certainly make it easy to be found etc

I think it ought to have a physical location.
