From the look of this forum when there were a few load related problems that is not at all true.

I'm talking about us serious posters, not the non-plus +1 crowd...

Hm, something is not right with the above sentence, non-plus +1?

according to our server load logging system, which keeps track of server load every 5 minutes, as of early August 15 we havent had any of the huge load spike that were causing "blackouts" of 10-15 minutes for non-PLUS users.

the critical change was in the configuration of our mail server.

That means I don't have to shell out for Apolyton Plus membership .

You need to make more PLUS benefits to compensate.

Accidentally breaking stuff for non-PLUS users every now and again would also help.

Institute a random banning algorithm that only affects non-plus members. The entertainment value of this feature would be huge.
I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

You know what would be really entertaining... randomly picking one of the traditional spammers/+1'ers of the community forum every week and ban/PCR them

Only if you got one of the ones that didn't contribute to the discussion at hand. Those who just posting blithe comments for the +1 they provide without considering the little guy in this equation - the poor thread-starter who only wanted to discover why Poly was running slow today but didn't feel like opening any of the other threads on the same subject.

That or PCR/ban Spikie. Either works for me.

That feature would make me get PLUS. I've been hovering over getting it, but simply haven't gotten around to it yet...

I'd say randomly choosing from Spikie and Skanky is almost a sure bet.

On a different note, what is apache? I'm currently moderating a Chinese student association email list and a apache has been sending me emails to subscribe it about twice per day. And I've tried to get back to him but of course that email does not accept incoming emails. I don't know where I should ask this questions so I've been very tolerant toward that guy.
