it looks ok (the fact that ping or tracert doesnt reach apolyton.net doesnt mean you cant get to apolyton)

    1) do you use any kind of proxy?
    2) did you try any of the other addresses (apolyton.com, moo3/galciv/civilization2/3/4/calltopower.net) ?

      From Drogue:

      1) Not using proxy
      2) the other addresses arent working either

Uh, no. Ever since the archiving started, IIRC, the 'Poly server stopped responding to ping at all. I know; even when I can access it, ping doesn't work.

The ping function on Poly was turned off way before that. Pinging Poly will not work, ever, even if you can access the site fine. Markos was just pointing out that a failed ping doesn't necessarily mean the site is uncontactable.

I'm at work at the moment. Will try that when I get home. Thanks for the help!

I was able to access www.ev1servers.net from work, but not poly.

                  I read his post wrong - I didn't see the "n't" on the "doesn't"

Perhaps poly has been deemed unsuitable children and that is the reason why Paiktis can't access it

I'm sorry, but I use a popup blocker. Maybe if the link redirect ad page didn't spawn multiple additional popups, I would unblock Poly popups. But as it is, there's no way.

Most likely the firewall of the Internet café or their ISP, any proxy server (not necessarly visible, if it's a forced proxy) or eventually maybe even EV1Servers blocks the IP block or CIDR used by the PC connected to the net and used by some Apolytoner to access ACS, if they have found abuse of the service at one end of the line. This is quite common. Especially in Drogue's case I suspect a forced proxy or blocking of IP block or CIDR, as many British ISPs are very prone to restrict traffic or use forced proxy servers.

I dunno. I've had trouble getting any response from Apolyton for the whole day.

I've been having trouble accessing Poly from home for over a month.

I'm also having a similar trouble accessing pitchforkmedia.com. No I don't read Pitchfork shut up I'm not an indie snob

I had problems accessing Poly from home, from hotels (when i am on business trip) a few months back. Connecting from office is ok. I tried various ways including changing the firewall setting, proxy etc etc but i still cannot access.

Eventually, I found the problem ! I had selected "hide signature" under the Poly Control Panel Settings. Once I switch to "Show signature", i can access Poly anywhere.
