Awesome, the A's have traded all their good players and won't have a decent team till they move to Las Vegas.

Cubs sign OF Seiya Suzuki from Japan. Really good there, but can he do the same here?

Great to see they actually signed somebody. It looks like a long season ahead on the North Side...

Cubs are undefeated, baby! ...Also full of players I never heard of before...

It looks like a looong season ahead, so I'll just savor this day at the top of the standings.

So far, the Cubs are holding their own and should be better than some of the crappy teams.
But the Sox look good and are holding on to first place in a crappy division
          Keep on Civin'

MLB is dying, maybe the big market teams have audiences and I'm misreading the situation based on watching a couple week daytime games but I'd be surprised if they're drawing 3-4k

Ah, back to the 60s. That was a time when my Dad could take me down to Wrigley field on a Tuesday morning, buy grandstand seats, watch BP, get several autographs, and then were permitted down into the lower boxes after the first inning. That's how I met the whole 60s Cubs crew (Kessinger-Beckert-Williams-Santo-Banks-etc), plus visitors like Clemente, Frank Robinson, Vada Pinson, Ron Cey, Dusty Baker, and many others signed those 15-cent programs for me. Cheap tickets, easy street parking, and bring your own pencil to keep score. Memories I will never forget.

Aaron Judge could win the triple crown, Cabrera and Yaz are the 2 prior winners. He's way out in front on HRs and RBIs but he's close on batting average with Zander Bogaerts and Luis Arreaz in the running (did i spell those right)

he's at 317 now going down to the wire, so is Zander and Luis is probably too far behind to catch them

                  and he's got 60 HRs

clean...course when you're 6'5" or whatever you dont need drugs

I never did steroids but I did play sports on speed, not because I wanted to cheat, just because it was fun... and unwise

batting averages have been down, I think they went to a deader ball but not sure. I figure Miggy was up around 330 and I dont know what Yaz won with

Interestingly, no National Leaguer in our lifetimes...

Year Lg Player Team/(BA, HR, RBI)
2012 AL Miguel Cabrera DET .330, 44 HR, 139 RBI
1967 AL Carl Yastrzemski BOS .326, 44 HR, 121 RBI
1966 AL Frank Robinson BAL .316, 49 HR, 122 RBI

                    Defending champion Braves -- OUT!
                    The mighty Dodgers -- OUT!

Philly and San Diego -- the unlikely #5 and 6 seeds -- will fight it out for the NL title. Incredible.

Meanwhile, Houston awaits the winner of Yankees-Cleveland in the AL...

5 game series are dumb In fact the playoffs in baseball are dumb.Maybe just take the top 2 teams and let them play a 21 game world series

but then people will start clamoring for a 4 team play off system and we'll end up back where we are now

Mantle had a helluva year in '56, was that before they went to a 162 game season?

I'd prefer best of 7 for the WS and the division championships

I'd be curious to see if batters and pitchers were more familiar with each other back then, I think more ABs favor hitters and those starting pitchers threw more innings.
