Yeah, I get it. In my defense, it does seem unintuitive for a winless team to drop 27 spots in S&P+ after losing on the road to a top-10 team, even if the loss was uniquely awful. Also unintuitive that 0-3 Nebraska is somehow 13 spots above 3-1 Troy, despite losing to them at home. This season makes no sense.

Well, looks like my homerism led me to underestimate how big a hit Nebraska would take in the predictive models after that debacle in Ann Arbor. We may only be favored in 2 or 3 of our remaining games...

On the bright side, Nebraska's next five games include Bethune Cookman, the three weakest Big Ten teams we'll play all season, and a human sacrifice at Ohio State that is so obviously unwinnable that it hopefully won't get the team down too much. Maybe we can get some wins and build enough momentum to threaten Michigan State and Iowa with upsets to end the season?

Is this vain search for hope in the face of overwhelming evidence what it feels like to be an Illinois fan?
