Also, we really need a relegation system for the NFL. Let's say the NFC is the top tier and the AFC is the secondary tier, and the bottom 4 NFC teams are relegated while the top 4 AFC teams are promoted (and of course we change the teams in each conference up some). The Super Bowl is between the champion of the NFC East/South and the NFC West/North.

I vote for Chicago being one of those teams that is relegated, and made to stay there until they can win without their QB. Okay...I am just upset because I took Minnesota in every league this week , thinking that Cutler was still injured and only found out later that he was playing and that the Bears (with Cutler) > the Bears (without Cutler). I didn't get to/have to watch the Chicago / Minnesota game, but one would think that Chicago without Cutler (against San Francisco) is a much worse team that a Chicago team with Cutler (against Minnesota...without Harvin). Who knew? How is it that I missed this memo? I would think that return of the Messiah of Chicago would have at least garnered a headline or two....or maybe a post from the Bear Fanatics of Apolyton.

I further think that this new league design should have the AFC as the Top Tier and the NFC as the secondary Tier (but only because I like more teams in the AFC than the NFC).

CHI-SF would've been bad with or without Cutler; SF has too good a pass rush. CHI is a very good team against teams without a strong pass rush threat, and very bad against all teams with a strong pass rush threat. Cutler/Marshall are good enough to beat pretty much any secondary combination out there, but only if Cutler has 18 seconds to wait for Marshall to get open and/or grab the defender without the refs seeing it.

Honestly sitting Cutler for that game was the best possible thing they could've done. Throw in the towel for SF, as long as Cutler doesn't get hurt we're in the playoffs no matter what (MIN-SEA-MIN, then GB, then ARI and DET; the GB game will be for the division win, and MIN-SEA-MIN-ARI-DET were about 4.5 expected wins, putting us at 11.5-4.5 if we lose to GB and still presumably lock up a wild card). Nobody cares about losing to SF in the regular season, and in the post season you hope that Aldon Smith gets a PED suspension and/or SF has to play a team that can handle them, like GB NYG NO ATL ...

The NFC is the historical 'first league' (it's the successor to the 1950s NFL) while the AFC is the successor to the AFL, a newer league started to compete with the NFL by Lamar Hunt and friends. It served its purpose, but now needs to be returned to what it was - second best.
