  • New Orleans and the Sugar Bowl was a total blast. Arkansas fans overtook the town and most the entire stadium, just finished on the short side of the scoreboard. Hog fans come to expect that. After the blocked punt, I had the feeling that the Hogs was blow it somehow. The Defense made some decent adjustments at the half, and the Vest went semi-conservative on the play calling in the 2nd half. The crowd was fun and crazy almost the whole game.

We were in the OSU section of the upper deck, and had a good time talking with the fans up there. I wanted to go down and beat some sense into the WRs. Damn, that was all sorts of stupid, dropping so many easy passes.

OSU band is all sorts of awesome, Hog band not so much.

We have a coach that coaches a team now, and not a joke, like Nutt was/is. I can see the Hogs being in the BCS more in the future, with him at the helm.

Bourbon Street on Monday night was a complete and total blast. Hog calling up and down the street, and the O H I O chant being drowned out.....

      • YEAH!

There is no Auburn versus Oregon game. No Tostitos BCS National Championship Game on Jan. 10. It's been cancelled on account of fraud. It's as phony as an Ivory Coast election.

If TCU can't play for the national championship, then nobody should play for it. Bust the crystal football this year. Until Nostradamus rises from the grave and can predict the future, we need to play this thing off. Anything else is about as real as Cheez Whiz.

        • Yep... just another year where the BCS is proven to be a piece of crap for College Football. Nothing new here.

Maybe some day, the NCAA will grow some balls and take back their sport.

          • Even the NCAA isn't that dumb; the AQ conferences would just tell the NCAA to go **** itself and would strike out on their own.

            • I honestly don't think they'd have the balls, and if they did, I don't think they'd weather the PR backlash well at all.

              • Of course they'd have the balls. No major university is going to accept the NCAA trying to assert itself and threatening the cash cow that supports every athletic department.

                • Granted, I'm not an economist, but I fail to see how a playoff would impair revenue flow to athletic departments.

Somewhat greater overall postseason revenues divided equally amongst all FBS schools results in less postseason money for power schools/conferences. The same thing happened in college basketball; March Madness makes a ****load of money, but the big schools don't see much of it.

Gee... if the NCAA came up with a plan that made them even more money... The major universities would tell the BCS to go screw themselves.

                        • I saw a quote somewhere that only 5 or 6 of the BCS conference teams didn't make a profit last year. The non BCS conference teams had a much worse track record

There are many examples of playoff systems that leaves the current bowl system pretty much intact, and just adds a four team playoff. A system such as some of those examples, would generate far more revenue, while still allowing the greedy large conferences the ability to rake the money in, and the greedy Bowl commitees to get their revenue. A win win. Especially since the smaller conferences would have a chance at the big bucks as well.

As it is right now... the Current BCS championship game has already killed New Years Day College football ratings. What used to be the biggest day in College Football is now just a snooze fest, with most people not giving a damn anymore. They might as well just add a playoff (4, 6, 8 or whatever teams) and take advantage of the extra revenue potential. Maybe it will add some excitement back into New Years Day if some of those games helped determine who made it into the playoffs... or if they were part of the playoffs.

It's not like a playoff would make the other Bowl Games any less meaningful... they've already done that.

                          • I can only support a playoff as long as it doesn't lessen the importance of the Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl.

I'd love to see the plan you think would allow for this. No cheating; you have to explain how the NCAA (in which every university gets an equal vote) is going to create an inequitable playoff system that would give power schools a much greater share of postseason revenues.
