Incidentally, speaking of the Mountain West, why wasn't Utah ranked preseason? All they do is run off 10+ win seasons for the last several years, and knock off at least one BCS conference school every season before starting (and usually dominating) their MWC schedule. Not to mention seven straight bowl wins.

How does Pitt come in at #15, and Utah is zip?

This is the problem with preseason ranks. Let's say TCU goes undefeated; they'd likely finish in the top three, at worst; depending on the arbitrary nature of the voters' collective mood, they may well play for the National Title. Let's say Utah goes undefeated (which would include a win over TCU); they'd probably end up at #4 or #5, behind at least one or two one-loss teams from other conferences. And we all know Utah is perfectly capable of doing just that, as they've already done it twice in the past five or six years.

Oregon State up 14-7. I still can't believe they'll win it in the end, but they're definitely giving TCU a tough game.

Oh and Guynemer, we've got scads of Beaver jokes up here.

Personally, I prefer my beavers wild. Tamed beavers just seem too artifical, or even worse, childlike.

And this may be the year that Temple beats Penn State at Happy Valley!

And this may be the year I convince the wife to have a four-way with Christina Hendricks and Zoe Saldana. I ain't holding my breath.

If your wish goes about the same way Al's is likely to go, you'll end up getting pegged by your wife in a four-way with Jon Hamm and Sam Worthington.

TCU takes the lead for the first time, with less than a minute in the half. Honestly, this is a surprise to me.

Yeah, given the Beavers' history of ****ting the bed on the road early in the season, I expected the Frogs to dominate.

LSU goes up 16-10 on a misfired snap that goes through the endzone, but then fumbles on the following drive. Replay appeared to show that he was down before the fumble came out, but the play wasn't reviewed, inexplicably.

LSU wins by the hair of their chiny-chin-chin. Not a good sign for the Tigers.

Most impressive/surprising wins of the day, in no particular order: Oregon, TCU, Michigan, Jacksonville State, North Dakota State, Oklahoma State.

Wisconsin up only 3 at UNLV at the half.

TCU did what they needed to do. They won.
