    Top 6 teams in D/ST:

    Jaguar: Peyton Manning (#1)
    Ozzy: Drew Brees (#2)
    Flash: Mike Vick/Ryan Fitzpatrick (#14/#13)
Berzerker: Kyle Orton (#7 [Note, his ranking may actually be higher because he still has to play this week])
    jonny: Eli Manning (#8)
    MRT: Aaron Rodgers (#3)

The thing is though that, as you can see that the #4-#6 QB's (Matt Ryan, Philip Rivers [Philip Rivers may be higher because he still has to play this week], Tom Brady) are on teams in the back-half of the standings. Also, many of the productive QB's are out-performing expectations by a long-shot and either went undrafted or were drafted in later rounds, including Vick, Fitzpatrick, Orton, and Eli Manning.

So I don't know if drafting the few elite QB's gives you THAT much of an advantage. It worked well for Jaguar and Ozzy but they also had some RB's and WR's who have been monstrous and they would likely still be on the top of the standings even with a more average QB whereas the Matt Ryan and Tom Brady owners had QB's that ended up top-6 but are at the bottom of the standings (not to mention guys who have under-performed from their top-QB billing such as Matt Schaub). As can be expected, the owners who happened to wait to pick their starting QB (or got theirs through the waiver wire like you, Flash) have done better, since, obviously, they used their higher picks on skill-position players and got 'steals' at QB.

But, I will say, that getting less than 10 points from a QB almost every week (Brett Favre ) really screws you, regardless of how well some of your other players do. You can still win without a top-14 RB or WR but you're screwed if you have a bottom of the barrel QB, even if he was top-10 the previous year. Not saying that's a bad thing or that's not how it's supposed to be; just an observation to counter what I had been saying in this post about QB not being as imported as one would think. In the extreme case of a terrible QB, you are worse off than if you have a terrible WR or RB.

        Qb 23%-23%-26%
        WR 29%-20%-28%
        RB 17%-36%-23%
        TE 12%-5%-8%

Make note that Ozzy has been about even on his use of WR or RB at flex.

        • Is that the percentage of our points that come from those positions?

            Yes.

I'm also breaking out flex and Jag and I have 11% from flex (10% wr flex 1% rb flex for me and vice versa for Jag), you've gotten 9% from flex (5% from WR flex and 4% from RB flex)

Like I said, at class now so can't look at numbers. But I remember you, Jag, and Ozzy (the top three scorers) all drafted QBs in the first round, IIRC. Last year me and Ozzy were the top scorers, and both of us drafted qbs in the first or second round. It is a interesting coincidence. Maybe it is nothing (you guys clearly drafted well in most positions), but I'm gonna look into more.

              • Wait, how did you calculate that, MRT? You went through each week or is there a faster way?

Oh and by the way, I love how my Cleveland D pick was laughed at but since I released them several of you have picked them up and used them

I've been going through week by week.

I think it's telling though that even if you halved our QB output we'd still be up there, especially Jag.

                      • I've gone up to guynemer and so far only chestor's tailors has been seriously screwed by having a terrible QB outfit. Only 15% of his points have come from his QB and despite that he's been top half in points. He's also had the highest standard deviation in points so far.

                        • Wow. Oh Jonny, I was going to remind you not to start Eli against the Vikings* in Week 14 but then I saw you have no backup quarterback.

*what with his mind-boggling terrible performances against the Vikings throughout his career.

My total points from my starting QB's so far this season was 147.1 points (10 games so average of 14.71 points/week). Compare to my defenses getting me 126.1 points and my RB1 (Frank Gore) getting me 172.3
