  • I'm just speculating. To me, Denver's actions moved them to #1 in surprises.

    • Clearly they were afraid the Dolphins would take him.

      • It's hard to say... yeah, if you listen to the ESPN talking heads, it was surprise. But was it really. I had read that Denver LOVED him. It didn't really surprise me when they took him. Like you, I thought it was early, but no real surprise.

        • Actually, ColdWizard, I thought if anyone took him that it would be Miami. He would fit there the best, maybe as a Slot/Wildcat.

          • I'm not sure about the Lions trading up to get Best.

They gave away two picks to a division rival to move up only four spots to take a running back with a history of injuries who may well have been available at their original draft spot.

            • Teabow's a great person, but NFL QB? Hopefully he works out in Denver.

I still agree with Sloww. Since the whole Cutler incident and firing of Shannahan, Denver has fallen into the likes of Oakland, Washington, and Tampa Bay as being a WTF! team. Especially with the trading of Marshall for stupid off field antics dealing with McDaniels. Sounds to me like the problem is in the leadership, and I think selecting Teabow is reflection of that.

Hopefully I am wrong, because I like the guy.

That's why I have no problem with Denver jumping up to get him, plus Arizona needs a qb too and who knows who they value more. I'm pretty sure Tebow could throw the ball to Fitz, mechanics or no mechanics. For me the wtf pick of the draft has to be the Jaguars.

I'm on board with this analysis as well. Seems like a crazy gamble to me.

I will say, I liked what Dallas did in picking up Daz Bryant. Has the potential to be a Randy Moss - amazing WR picked way too low because of behavior issues. Not entirely sure what Buffalo is doing picking up Spiller when it has Lynch, but maybe they want to trade him away.

I like what Atlanta did. Witherspoon is a great pickup and defense needs to be focused on in this year's draft.

                    Oh, and

A Rutgers player gets picked with the 11th pick! Something else I never thought I'd see when I was witnessing 1-10 years there!

                      • Almost forgot, Kenny Britt was Rutgers' first first rounder ever, when he was picked in the 1st round last year by the Titans. In addition to Davis at 11 to San Fran, McCourtey went to the Pats at 27

                        • Big 12 and SEC ruled on Day 1. I believe Nebraska had 1 player taken, and that will likely be all until Saturday, at best.Oklahoma smoked.
                          Rutgers was well-represented.

Oh, god. Ravens took Kindle. Looks like they'll stay strong on defense.

                          • Vikes get a Cav (WAAAAHOOOOOS!!) and the Steelers get a Hokie. This concludes this Virginia football update.

                            Two q's:
                            Minny: Peterson + Gerhart = ?
Ravens loading up on D again?

                            • Bears took a safety, Major Wright from Florida. Can't be worse than the current collection of misfits - and at least they drafted for a major need.

                              • Not too surprisingly, ESPN is grading Jaguars and Broncos an "F" on the draft so far.
There may be others, but I was looking at those two in particular.

Gerhart will be like Daryl Johnson, only he can run and catch better. The Cowboys under-utilized Johnson. There was a lot of talk in the days before the draft, saying that if he was black, he'd have gone in the 1st round. Nothing like some controversy. He was a good pick. He'll team very well with Peterson.
