It's easy to do when you keep arguing that a loss is a win. The name of the game is winning, not beating the spread. A coach doesn't think about having to win to by more than three if he is the home team just to satisfy people who don't understand what a victory is. He is playing to win the game. At the end of the day, VT got a win and Nebraska took a loss. Two good teams faced each other, and one got the victory. You can whine all you want about how they were out played or that they got lucky, or whatever, but they did what they had to do to win, which is the mark of a championship team. The fact that Nebraska lost a game that they could easily have won says a lot about them. They aren't hungry enough... They aren't good enough yet.

So go ahead and count it as a victory for Nebraska or a loss for VT in your warped universe... But just ask Nebraska if they think they won that game..

How many times do I have to say that I'm not claiming that Nebraska is undefeated? I'm claiming that a one-point loss on the road is suggestive of a win on a neutral field. This isn't rocket science, yet you seem incapable of grasping the concept.

And I have no problem with you wanting to downgrade that "loss" when comparing the team to other teams that have a single loss to lesser opponents, or lesser opponents that haven't played anybody who don't have a loss yet. But at the end of the day, VT should be ranked higher than Nebraska because they BEAT THEM and remain perfect. They did what they had to do to win an important game. When the chips were down, Nebraska blew it.
This is a sign that they aren't ready for prime time yet, and that VT is a better team.

The better team doesn't always win, but who you think is the better team isn't always correct no matter what flim flam you use to justify it.
