Given his failure to consistently score I guess you could consider any goal he gets to be a fluke. I just thought the goal was impressive as

1. he took a long hard pass on the fly without losing speed despite the fact that it was essentialy on the other side of him from the direction he was going

2. he stayed in control through his spin around-- lots of folks would lose the puck during a high speed turn

3. The shot? I don't see what would make it higher skill. yes it was along the ice but against a goalie who is down with his leg already fully extended, a shot just outside that leg is the best spot possible

Any one of those things are moderately common. You will see a better pass reception, a better spin -around or a better shot from time to time. But what I found impressive was that he combined all three elements on the one play to make what would be a highlight reel type goal.

It was a really good rush, and good puck control. The part I think was flukey was the flinging it at the net from a position where control is impossible and have it go to the perfect spot to go in.

Rather than Sakic with a wrister breaking down the wing, it was a bit of luck on the finish. That's all.

It's certainly a goal unlike I've ever seen Hemsky score.

On to hockey pools-- Both my matchups have lopsided "looking scores at the moment ( a 5-1 lead and trailing 4-0) But I think that every category where there is a lead its by one.

So tonight with numerous players going, a fair bit could get decided

In draft-- I think the phoenix game could help determine the goalie numbers. Bryzgalov could get a shutout or could get overrun-- its tough to tell with Detroit

In auction, I have 6 skaters going to the sex pantehrs 7 so a lot could change depending on who gets hot

Speaking of left wings . . . .-- In auction last night I had to sit a guy so I played Ovechkin and Parise and sat James Neal-- Parise came through with a good night (2G 1A +2) but SO DID NEAL (2G +1) while AO went pointless--- arrrgggh--

I had highlighted Penner as someone to watch and had considered picking him up in auction but went for Neal instead-- he's a good pick up for someone though with the pace he is on
