I am happy to be involved with this though already having forgotten it repeatedly makes me think I might forget again....too much on the go right now. Kinda like the regular draft, I am ambivalent either way, if I get left out, no big deal, if you need another to make it work, count me in, if you want me to sign up regardless I will.

Auction league was a lot of fun for me last year, but I prefer the strategy of the slower draft. I think I ended out with 3 RW's all from Detroit last year in the Auction draft....anyone want to do the math on how often they were all active in my lineup at the same time? I am much better prepared this year, but still expect to screw up the strategy end of it.

Short answer, if you are still looking for someone, I am in.....as long as the final time gets set (eventually).

Flubber....do you really think your meeting will be over in less then an hour?

Edit #2: I just logged into ESPN, and it looks like I am already signed up? Or maybe it's just that I was signed up last year (cause my team is still there). Anything I need to now ahead of time?

Man, I just did a mock draft and chose based on our stats. There was one other live person and eight computer slots. Twenty-two total positions, with 9 forwards, 5 defense, 2 goalies and 6 bench. As testimony to both how different our stats skew things and how crazy some of ESPN's projections are, here's who I ended up with (with $25 left over, I might add):

Ovechkin, Crosby, Nash, Nathan Horton, Henrik Sedin, Alfredsson, Lecavalier, Vanek, Spezza, Boyle, Weber, Gonchar, Markov, Ryan Whitney, Luongo, Marc-Andre Fleury, Kopitar, Chris Mason, Dustin Brown, Martin St. Louis, Ray Whitney and Tanguay.

Yes --I confirmed with the meeting organizer that he only needs about 30 minutes-- I am also personally brutally efficient about cutting short meetings. There are techniques you can use-- The simplest is to let people know you have a commitment and ask that all key items be covered at the outset.

I got Ovechkin, Malkin, Crosby, Getzlaf, d. Sedin, Iginla, Kane, Pominville
Green , Weber, Letang, Kronwall, Campbell, Backstrom, Luongo, Miller, and a few more I forget

They had Brian Campbell as 3 dollar pic and nabokov for something like 8 bucks-- If you bid against mainly computers it seems they go a buck above the listed value or so as their maximum. I had no money left over at the end

You can set your prices before hand for an autodraft if you can't make it (I think?)

And unlike the other draft (which though quick, took a couple weeks?) this one will go very quick right? like an hour? What time would that be there for Krill? Start time of 10pm and done around 11pm? is that still too late?

Last time it took about an hour with 8 (?) people?

Also, the Yahoo site says t his:
Your league will not be permitted to conduct its draft if it contains an odd number of teams.

Anyone not able to do Sunday? We could change to that time pretty easily.

Just did an auction, took 2.5 hours but this is with people being silly and taking forever, and a lot more people and players (220 total selections, instead of 14*8 112). Should be around 1 hour for us.

ESPN public league settings are weird... 9F, 5D, 1UT (F/D), 2G, 5BE. Don't like them at all. Anyway, ended up with Toews/Kane (by intent, overpaying for both), Savard, Burrows, Backstrom-WAS, Franzen, Ruutu, Wheeler, Ribeiro, Ry Whitney, Blake, Edler, Ohlund, Pitkanen, Tim Thomas, Rinne, Emery, and bench of Rolston, Kessel, Versteeg, and Smyth. Definitely not a league to spend early money in, though our league will be very different in that way; with 15 skaters starting, $260 doesn't go very far when you spend $50+ on Crosby/Ovechkin. I spent no more than $33 on any player, though I slightly overspent for Toews and Kane (around $20 for each), and shouldn't have spent $7-8 for Rolston and Kessel (as I did that right before players on their level started going for $2-3, like Versteeg and most of those D fellas).

I'm still worried about the odd number of teams bit. Unless we get 1 more it won't let us under the draft results (as I understand it)? Which means the auction would be kinda pointless?

Last year for the auction I had a prioritized list of players by position...this year I'm flying by the seat of my pants. We'll see what happens.
