Actually... the real vote should be on whether the sports forum should become an On Topic forum... It's as much on topic as the other games forum. Sports is a GAME... and many people are participating in contests and fantasy leagues. And it sure has more traffic than many of the current on topic forums.

But yeah... I guess managements long term strategy is to drive everybody away... and kill the few vibrant communities it still has... really smart!
    Keep on Civin'

My suggestion was to promote it to the top level alongside main off-topic.

I'd still support that and maybe we should add it to the voting options.

        Plus, "games" would include golf.

BTW - I see that it's not particularly clear in the opening message that the vote is to let us know what people are thinking, not to make the decision.

Deciding without knowing what people felt about it would have been worse than asking.

It has as much right to it's own forum as other games does...

But why ask people that aren't involved? You sure as hell don't ask people in the OTF on what do in on topic forums. You should ask the involved community. Aren't they the ones that matter?

This whole "it's an OTF issue since it's a sub forum" is just crap. Again, the real decision should be to make it it's own on topic forum.

I agree. Anyway as unusual as it is for Poly the intention of the admins was genuinely to get a sense of public opinion on the subject, I suspect they might have got a lot of the feedback they wanted already.

                    Here is what was said...

There will be a one week discussion (May 18 - May 24) during which members can campaign for their point of view, and then a new thread with a poll that will be open for one week (May 25 - May 31) to decide the issue.
The "to decide the issue" seems pretty clear to me

New idea: the first of the two sub-forums to get their discussion thread to 500 doesn't get deleted.

Well it used to be part of the Off Topic didn't it?

If sport forum users genuinely care about the sport forum I don't think you should worry about it being moved and don't forget, I agree with you.
